I've turned it off again for now. This isn't about witch-hunts. But as ron says, we can call out people if they're being cunts.
No, we should have a vote on it. This is how it ended up never being used last time.
“this isn’t about witch hunts”
But anonymous bullying is ok?
We’ve not said that. I talked to Indie and Octy about the Chlammy situation late last night and it’s been raised in this thread before anything could realistically be done about it.“this isn’t about witch hunts”

The tags are the witch hunt. I know it's not cool to point this out, or I'm being "woke" or whatever, but they tend to follow you around for a while and even as someone who'll go toe to toe with anyone, it is tiring to read over and over.
There's been multiple issues about recent tags (not ones from 3yrs ago) raised in this thread. If the mod team don't want to punish anyone, then fine, but there shouldn't be no ramifications at all. Let people know who's been posting those tags and let the change in others' opinions be the punishment.
We/I dropped the ball, I hold my hands up to that. I didn't check to see if we could see who made those tags anymore. And now, it's too late to see who did.
Clammy raised an issue with BT, we didn't see who did it, and those tags are now gone. What else would you like me to do?
Let Moopy have a vote on it?What else would you like me to do?
On what?Let Moopy have a vote on it?
I find it a bit much to have this come from someone who was admin and knows the difficulty in making the right call.
If we should see who leaves the tags, isn't that what some posters are asking? And I agree. On what?
The tags were addressed as soon as they were raised. As Shee said, everyone’s tolerance to tags about them is different - surely the most adult thing to do here is to wait for the poster to contact us about them unless they’re clearly offensive? If we start taking unilateral action to delete tags about certain posters as a precaution, would that not be us micromanaging? The tags are the witch hunt. This isn’t me being confrontational, by the way, it’s just I’m thinking Moopy might be expecting a firmer hand? The tags were addressed as soon as they were raised. That's out of order, I fully remember how difficult it is because we were the only ones who actually dealt with it. I'm aware that I'm forcing the issue and being a dick about it, but nothing happens otherwise. People have been complaining on-off about this since I quit.
And before you quit. This isn't a magical new problem. So you should know all about it, and being in the firing line from all sides isn't so fun. So maybe be less of a dick about it.

But guys, please don't have a go at admin, they are doing their best. And I speak from experience when I say at times it's an INCREDIBLY difficult and time consuming job. Talk things out sensibly as a community and then admin can action.
As you say, we know the line.
I don’t think they were the issue. As far as I understood, it was the same few tags about ego/showing off that sprang up in every topic he posted in. As long as it’s not overtly offensive, I don’t think we should be policing tags that aren’t about other posters at all.But what IS the line, aside from No Racism? I'm not complaining and God knows it's one of the reasons I'm here but the whole site is often an exercise in extremely poor taste, "cunt" every third word and going too far. In the interests of transparency, the now-removed Beachy Head and Lucy Tiseman-inspired tags in the runners thread were mine. I thought they were (bleakly) funny at the time, but maybe they weren't? They certainly weren't intended to upset anyone and if they did, apologies.

The line used to be no personal abuse in tags. I'm not on the staff anymore so I don't know if that rule has changed.
At the very least, if you want to insult someone then you should do it in a way that lets them fire back.
I'm fine with the poor taste, I have no intention of turning the site into Popjustice, which now seems to be a work chatroom for insufferable woke op-ed columnists.
SO glad I'm not admin right now, it's just one thing after another at the moment.
I don't think anyone is having a go at admin? But equally, with great power comes great responsibility.
