FINALLLY!

coming next Friday - apparently it's a banger

now i simpy loved body talk and cruel but what the fuck is that artwork about?

it's here! well this is much less polished in production terms than the second album, a bit chaotic but i'm into it :disco:

No Body Talk as first singles go on initial listening, but I like it. The messiness is sort of charming and I wonder if there has been a conscious effort to up the quirk factor.

On first listen I quite like this. Parts of it are giving me Control era Janet vibes.
100%. It's strong from the second verse on. Really strong way to come back - I couldn't imagine how she would sound now but this is kind of timeless and current and she sounds a bit liberated

second track Woman was a bit of a bore but this new one is really great and classic Foxes

New single about her granny ‘Kathleen’. I like the chorus. 8 track EP due on April 1st, album later in the year though it’s not clear if the EP tracks are going to be on the album.

First shuffle through and that’s gorgeous.

surely 8 tracks is an album not an EP...

She’s calling it an EP to get these songs “boxed off”. One of the 8 is an acoustic version of Kathleen.

‘Friends In The Corner’ EP Tracklisting:

1. Friends In The Corner
2. Kathleen
3. Hollywood
4. Love Not Loving You
5. Dance
6. Woman
7. Courage
8. Kathleen (Acoustic)

Fair enough, sounds like a bit of a reset for the album then and might explain the delay.

Apparently the EP is a stand-alone project as she wrote so much during lockdown and the album to follow this year will be all new songs and she didn’t want to waste these.

Kathleen is decent but quite disjointed. Maybe trying a bit hard to be anthemic when the chorus hits.

EP out tomorrow. and...

...she confirms she's done an all-new album to follow this year, meaning the EP essentially wraps a bow on the scrapped third album era.

quite bizarre but I haven't been feeling these new tracks so much (other than Friends/LNLY) so i'm not mad.

it works as a whole better than the as individual drops (overvan entire year...). I don't think I'll use Woman or Hollywood much but LNLY, Kathleen, Dance and of course the incredible title track are doing it.

Listened a few times and this is really an enjoyable body of work, definitely a case of the sum being greater than the whole of its parts.

I haven't listened to the whole thing yet but immediately Dance is better than all the other songs released up to now.
