The Hotel Friday

Woke up to the devastating news that Shad Gaspard, WWE superstar and one half of the catastrophically poorly judged black tag team Cryme Tyme, has drowned. I await comments from @Indie and @Chlammy, the only other Moopists who could feasibly give a shit.

I'm not familiar with that wrassler. I wonder if anyone's ever done a mortality rate study of wrestlers, i'll bet it's fair high in comparison.

I haven't huffed anything in ages. I'm such a middle class drug snob these days. Might go and get a couple of quids worth of pterol and go and hang about on the park looking for trouble.

The wrestler deaths have slowed down a lot in recent years, in surely-coincidental correlation with the reduction in steroid use.

So many 80s wrestlers were on constant roids and coke. Not a great combo for your long term heart health.

Amazed that Hulk Hogan has lasted as long as he has. The man is almost allergic to being talented, his whole career was based on artificial physique and shouting at the crowd while off his nut.

Did the efforts of sending emails to all people on the Moopy members list WORK? I see at the bottom of my screen that @Joseph logged in for the first time in 10 YEARS! :o

Did he not live in a caravan somewhere in the Deep South of America?

I have an Auntie Mary and an Uncle Joseph and they have a son called MICHAEL, not Jesus. It is rather common form in my neck of the woods which I am sure is quite unsurprising to most of you but I thought it was as good a time as any to bring it up.

I did some research on my Donegal family earlier this week and it was a fucking nightmare as pretty much everyone seems to share about 5 names. I have an uncle, grandad and great-grandad all called john all with sons called john. :D

I have been so fucking IRRITABLE today and I have no idea WHY!

It's drinks Friday, we have a house FULL of food, I'm free of all my Uni essay's but honestly Mr Ag can't do anything right today!

I've got to have a sort of LEAVING drinks with my flatmate and his gf this evening before they move out. But honestly I'm SICK OF THE SIGHT of them and really CAN'T BE ARSED!

Fathers and first sons usually share the same first name back home. Where in Donegal are your family from Ron?

I traced my father's family to TUAM in GALWAY. I'd go and poke around but it looks like a bit of a dump. Which is probably why they left. That or the lack of POTATOES

In my family a few generations up there was a Jack who went by "John" and his son was a John who went by "Jack". Or the other way around. It's a THING that side of the family do to have the eldest son go by his middle name. My grandad still does now. (He's also "John")

Just suggest you get a DELIVEROO and let them argue it out again while you slip away for a quiet SMIRNOFF and a FAG.

My Grandad grew up on a farm in Ballyliffin. Doesn't get more Irish than that.

I have been round that way many moons ago! :o I hail from around an hour and half’s drive (on a good day) away.

I haven't been since I was a kid, but my best mates moved back to Derry so we were planning a trip over this summer. Might be next year now though :(

I LOVE DERRY! Ballybofey and Letterkenny are both larger towns around an hour or so away from you in Ballyliffin if you ever end back up that way. Although flying is a lot easier I quite enjoy getting the old boat over too when I am not driving of course. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to sample the fine offerings at the bar. :disco:

You just HAVE to go over and see The Wild Atlantic Way. It is simply STUNNING.

Yeah that was the plan, drive down the coast and camp. My mates engaged to a polish girl who lived in Ireland for years so we'd probably get a little convoy going and do a week or two. *sigh*

A lot of my family live in and around Derry now, so its quite random one of my best mates is from there, he even knew some of my cousins growing up!

We will get there Ron. I really think I will end up back there at some point, as nowhere else quite feels like home.
