As in on first listen, or this time? Or is this your first listen? :o
I've know I've heard it before because my Dad has it, but I can't really remember anything after Cloudbusting.

Again, such a strange sound picture. She's really undervalued as an experimental artist, although many of the most celebrated figures in the underground love her.

There's the 'listen to me talk to me baby' bit! It really is distressing how it sounds, all garbled.

...and the guts to just dive straight into what is essentially a piece of traditional Irish music.

Ooh! Worth looking up a bit of info about The Ninth Wave (ie the post-Cloudbusting songs) for some context of the concept if you don't know much about it

The lyrics are so evocative, I love the idea that she's flashing forwards as well as back while drowning.

I assume it's meant to represent failed communication or how we struggle to understand each other...whilst also highlighting that she is, essentially a spectre at this point.

...and then touches upon the ANCIENT SPIRITS OF WATER. Because you would, wouldn't you?

09 Jig of Life

Jig of Life sounds like what some of the more experimental folk singers were doing in the late 2000s. I'm fairly sure that no one was doing this sort of traditional tune with such scary lyrics in 1985.

The 'All you sailors get out of the waves get out of the water' etc calls back to Watching You Without Me, to me: She's seeing something happen (the storm heading for them) but can't reach them or warn them.

Yeah, I imagine that she's out of body, floating away from earth and sees all this going on.
