MOOPY ALBUM SYNC LISTENS #8 - KATE BUSH - HOUNDS OF LOVE - 8pm Tuesday 26/05

I'm not sure I could rate THE NINTH WAVE as individual songs.. it's just a WHOLE THING isn't it? I wouldn't necessarily seek out WAKING THE WITCH to play on its own but when it comes up as part of the OPERETTA it is a fucking high.

whether or not you think this is Bush at her best, it is unquestionably Bush at her *most*.

:disco: I think ‘The Dreaming’ very very slightly edges this album into second position if we’re talking about Madame at her MOST (:D) but it’s very close indeed

Although saying that I have ON OCCASION played JIG OF LIFE for shits and giggles.

"I put this moment... OVER HERE" :disco:

Not everything on The Ninth Wave works on its own but none of them are really meant to so it's a moot point.

There's a few candidates kicking about for next week - Erasure's Chorus was one, Pet Shop Boys either Actually or Behaviour was another...what else was there...?
I think Behaviour is the most loved round these parts.

Don't ask me about Erasure. Not really for me, but I'll play.

The Dreaming is absolutely batshit in places. HoL has so much more warmth, I think.

If anyone fancies a bit of light relief (or utter sacrilege depending on your view), how about a quite well-done mashup of Cloudbusting with Katy Perry's California Gurlz? :eyes:

I know you just did Kate but if you do Aerial sometime in the future I will be here I promise. I rate A Sky of Honey as high as The Ninth Wave, if not more DEPENDING ON MY MOOD. I prefer Hounds of Love's A-side by a country mile though, nice as A Sea of Honey is.

Aerial is a big ask as a double album lasting an hour and a half but nothing's off the table (unless we've already done it).

This is just making me wish she'd release that bloody Before the Dawn DVD at last! We know it was filmed :(

Sorry to miss out on this one. Glad to see it was a big success.

I know most of these albums have been pre-2000, but someone like Carly Rae Jepsen, Beyoncé, Gaga, Robyn etc could be fun...

Did Moopy do a sync listen of Roisin's Overpowered, or was that a Twitter thing? That could be a good more modern one to try.

Oh God yes please. Hungry bottom for Roisin here.

I thought earlier today that Architecture And Morality by Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark would be a good Sunday night listen.

I fell asleep.

The momentum of the moments is unprecedented.

A Deal With God truly sounds like one. A 5 minute sci fi orgasm.

The title track was the side opening moment from the live show - I can't describe the joy it gave me to hear her sing like that.

In some ways I hope she never does (not that I was able to get tickets and actually see her live) but in any case, you know what she’s like. Makes Enya look pacy :side-eye:

I just got an image of Enya rollerskating, which I now can't get out my head. Naturally she's shoe shopping.

I'd certainly like to stretch out a bit with the sync listens but thus far, it just hasn't got the numbers. Robyn is a very good suggestion.

I wonder if it's because people prefer to watch something rather than listen to it? We could try watching a YouTube playlist of an artist's singles - like all of Robyn's videos? This might be an AWFUL idea, but just a thought. I'm an albums guy so it doesn't make a difference to me but I don't know about the general Moopy population

I know you mentioned doing 'Dark Side of the Moon' at some point and I'd be up for that. I guess it would probably fit better with the Sunday ones than the Tuesday.

WOOPS I missed this I was busy :)

Cloudbusting and RUTH (Lorenzo) are probably two of my favourite Kate Bush songs (and songs in GENERAL) so quite frankly it’s a SPECTACULAR album :disco:

Gutted I missed this with it being my favourite Kate album (a smidge ahead of The Dreaming).

As much as I love The Ninth Wave, these days I'd say I listen to the first 5 songs more often. Although I can't think of Cloudbusting without picturing Dame KB in that fright wig...

Looks like a few people missed it. I don't suppose there's any scope to set up a bonus relisten?
