I feel like she says this whenever she can't be bothered to explain something to a brain-dead interviewer. See also The Line the Cross and the Curve being "a load of bollocks" :D
 
The Fog I struggled with for a long time. I like it now. The whole feel of it evokes fog/treacle in the same way that the feel of Under Ice evokes ice, but that in itself makes it a bit tough to get into I think. It's pretty gorgeous but not one I return to much
 
I think "The Fog" gets it absolutely right - it is more dense, less penetrable...but the feel she creates is exquisite.
 
I still can't get on board with The Fog. I'm a fan of meandering songs when I feel the sense I'm meant to be feeling (see all of the Ninth Wave) but this one's never "revealed" itself to me. Actually think it might one of my bottom Kate songs. :(

There’s something about ‘Love And Anger’ which has an air of part of The Ninth Wave in an expanded and not terribly exciting way. However, the strings on ‘The Fog’ are very beautiful indeed

Interesting that in this one, the connection between parent and child is a bit suffocating, all encompassing; and on Reaching Out, it's a parental relationship where the child is desperate for the attention that the parent isn't necessarily giving
 
Kate got a best producer and female nod at the Brits this year (losing out to Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox respectively), but the album wasn't nominated. The Raw & The Cooked by Fine Young Cannibals won that, with We Too Are One (Eurythmics), A New Flame (Simply Red), Club Classics Vol. One (Soul II Soul) and The Seeds Of Love (Tears For Fears) also nominated.
 
"Reaching Out" isn't doing it for me - too bombastic. It lacks her usual subtlety and good taste. Too big an orchestra, too much reverb.

This album feels like it's a lot more of a thing of the 80s than Hounds Of Love ever did, especially this production on Heads We're Dancing.
 
Glad to finally make one of these, I’m only really aware of Kate’s SINGLES so this should be a TREAT.

Finding this terribly unfocused and imprecise compared to Hounds Of Love (and The Dreaming, especially). More emotionally sedated, somehow. I bet she started staring at washing machines for days on end around this time, or at least realised it might be a fun idea for the future :side-eye:
 
LOVE Heads. It's like she's taken the phrase "dance with the devil" and written a whole song about doing it literally.
