AS5 E01: All Star Variety Extravaganza

Jujubee miming meant it wasn’t as good but overall I still think she is going to be one of the ones to beat and rightly so.
 
Juju was so confident of her singing during the S2 singing challenge and ended up bombing spectacularly, so she probably preferred to play it safe this time :D
 
JuJu just OOZES CUNT, she better make it to the end and not be fucked over by some last minute production shenanigans.
 
Juju is such a funny one, in that aesthetically her drag does absolutely NOTHING for me - I don’t think I’ve liked a single look she’s ever turned out :D

However she has personality and performance chops in SPADES. She has more personality than the cast of season 11 combined, Vanjie aside obv.

I hope this season gives her a huge boost. I need more Juju content in my life :disco:

I’m usually into the fashion queens but Juju, despite her very simple fashion, usually looks great and dresses in what suits her.

I find it worse when more basic queens try to look high fashion and wind up having the clothes wearing them instead.

We live in a world where people aren’t ready for lip syncs week after fucking week. I’d go in with a live chicken up my ARSE at least.
 
I think they try not to spunk their load and save for the big finale (if they get there) and producers have wised to it so they have come up with this which in a lot of ways would force them to bring it
 
I don't get India at all. Other than the performance in the main challenge where she was pretty good (but not the winner for me by a long chalk - but it made for the storyline they wanted), I just found her meh throughout.

Jujubee is just so accomplished - her reads were phenomenal and even if it wasn't live, her talent show performance was great. Shea will be great.

I don't really get the point of the new twist, but I guess they needed to shake things up. I mean, I always find it a bit weird that they have the potential for the same name to be in Yvie and India's hand... so the lip sync just becomes pointless, unlike in normal Ru Paul where it really is a life or death situation. Most of the time, they will both have the same name and it becomes totally redundant. But whatever... Yvie won the lip sync with ease this week. India was much more memorable being thrown around the stage by Mimi.

Hated Blair. What an awful transformation. Dreadful.

Cracker seemed more bearable than before.

Ongina's library performance was the first time I've ever seen 'so bad they're good' reads. :D She made me LOL! Just awful.

Because it was India who is BARELY an all-star except they wanted the Derrick storyline (which ended up lasting one episode!)

Well there is also the 10k tip to fight for, plus the glory/legacy of winning, plus the fact that in recent AllStars series, the queens have been relying on a report card of sorts to decide who should stay and who should go further down the line.

And besides, it's often a different name in each queen's hand. Often enough for the whole element to still be made exciting.

I think the issue is gonna be will she able to back up her rubbish twink personality with ACTUAL talent? Or will she just be a deflated Eureka?

That was a whoooole lotta Derrick. The ultimate crash n' burn girl did not waste a second. In her which Britney are you segment she probably would have told Sharon Needles in full on Halloween mode that she was Sharon Needles Britney and done it a straight face.

Ongina was really awful, but I'm loving seeing India sitting at the top. With her legs sat like Jack Duckworth (she made Phi Phi on the season 4 finale look like Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct). And in her best 2010 drag. Derrick wrapping up their beef to let India know he had his permission to let him stay was another marvel.
 
It DOES kinda seem a bit FORCED with Blair though. She's gone from one of those nice girls to a BITCHY SCENE QUEEN. I am NOT buying it at ALL.
 
The only real sense of tedious bitch I got from Blaire was in responce to Ongina and I can see why she would get snappy at a supposed veteran not having their own music, not even lip syncing and having the cheek to say she was all in her own head :D

I must say, I did laugh at Ongina's season 1 wheelchair entrance and she did at least somewhat recreate her signiture strut "thing".

Blaire really does look like Chelsea Handler here. India, Craig from BB6. Re-watching this. If only Ricky Martin had came out dressed as actual pit crew..
 
OMG at Yvie. Every stunt was like someone throwing themself off a bridge and landing as roadkill :D She was amazing. Very Iris Krell in parts.

I REALLY wish they'd kicked Ongina out first ep now and kept Derrick in - especially as her Mariah Snatch Game could have possibly been QUITE GOOD going on her Britney from Season 8.

She sort of reminds me of Alyssa, in that she's unintentionally hilarious.
I'd live for a Housewives-style Real Drag Queens of Vegas show with Derrick, India, Shannel, Coco Montrese and Kimora Black. What a hot mess that would be :disco:
 
Indeed, I’m amazed they let Derrick come anywhere near the bottom two as although he is obvious cannon fodder, it would have clearly been a good watch with her vs India.

Do we think the eliminated queens will be back for their ruvenge? Or if Derreck is gone forever? :(
 
It would be cool to have the eliminated queens DESIGN a challenge for the competing ones.

It'll give Derrick Crappy an opportunity to get back at India. Or try to anyway
 
It doesn't make sense to me to choose to have Derrick on All Stars and then get rid of him first episode. I mean he's never a contender in terms of being a potential winner, but are they so blind to his value that they really only offered him it as cannon fodder? For that reason alone, I have a FEELING we haven't seen the last of him yet [/racechaser].

In fact, it's just come to me what I didn't like about Blair. For me, in her season, her USP was the innocent sweetness. Losing that, she just becomes like any other queen. Loses her originality entirely.
 
That was her arc though, wasn't it? Forced as it may have been - they pushed the notion that she was portraying herself as overly sweet and innocent because she hadn't properly dealt with her assault. It makes sense that she wouldn't be quite the same a couple of years later... whether that translates to a better result for her this time remains to be seen, of course.
 
She wasn't all THAT innocent, she is an alcoholic, remember? And they made a point of kinda alluding to that on untucked on the first episode when they showed the cocktails with one orange juice and she mentioned 'This is orange juice, right?' or something along those lines.

But she seems to have done a complete personality transplant. Do people change THAT much?
