Posted it in the Kim thread but then decided a Spanish iconic diva covering a British music sensation was worth its own post. Mo’s vocals are impressive as usual but this take on the song doesn’t match Dame Kim’s majesterial frenzy for me.

My first introduction to this Menly C looking female. I love the finger point she does after being cheered on by gays driving by her side. Of course the Kim original has a restraining order on this woman who gets nowhere near it, but what a ride she goes on with it.

I can point you in the direction of some Monica classics then we can start your Marta Sanchez lessons.

I'm not a big fan or follower of Mónica but she has about 400 million times more talent and charisma than Mel C.

:D

Evident in her finger point alone. I was only talking looks of course. If I had to make a lazy talent comparison I'd have went with the similarly subtle Anna Vissi.

There shall be intermittent introductions to both. A common theme is that a lot of the songs often sound like something else.

Are these the same women? I'm confused.

The 2nd one is amazing, especially as it sounds like she's singing "trashy whore" 28 seconds in.

No the second one is Marta Sanchez, another Spanish diva. It was a double lesson.

Yeah, I was obviously just checking... :side-eye:

Marta is much more fun, her rubbish dancing yet exceptional hairography (her hair is like Niagara Falls, that neck of hers must be very strong) made an instant impression.

Everyone knows Marta Sanchez' definitive song is La Desconocida and the bizarre video where she blatantly borrows heavily from Madonna (circa Ray Of Light era) including her "playing" the guitar :disco:

This song of course will have cropped up at some point. Marta is quite good at recycling Madonna/Janet/Cher ideas.

Also Billie Myers' Tell Me.

Watching it further, it's like a Smack the Pony sketch (what was she thinking with those hand actions?)
