I cut it myself about a month ago and it was so traumatic I couldn’t do it again.

Nothing round my way is open yet :evil:

Provisionally July 15th. The places online system was accepting dates as normal though so I have emailed for confirmation by an actual human
 
My dad just messaged me to say that if you add the excess deaths to the confirmed ones, 1 in every 1000 of the UK population has now died a Covid-related death. THANKS FOR THAT
 
I grow my hair out in the winter and get a sheep shear for the summer so it's no huge deal, but in this weather I'm missing the shear.
 
Thankfully my flatmate has been on hand to give haircuts. He’s done a pretty good job too although I daren’t ask him about making it a permanent setup.
 
My antibody test has come back positive. So it's likely that I had Covid when I self isolated back in March with mild symptoms. Not that it means much in the long term but it validates the need for self isolation - otherwise I could have infected lots of people at work!

How are you feeling about it? I'm still unsure whether having had it once means you are not likely to catch it again - have they explained anything?
 
No one knows how long immunity lasts yet.

With the sudden recent resurgence in places that had it first and seemed to get rid of it (China, SK), I’m guessing about 6 months, but that’s not on any scientific basis just a bit of observational guesswork

Nothing has changed really. All that a positive antibody result indicates is previous exposure to the virus: nothing more and nothing less.

I have colleagues who had positive PCR tests with worse symptoms than me and their antibody tests are negative. Conversely there are people who were asymptomatic or very mildly symptomatic (like me) who have had positive antibody results (and some with really high levels.)

No one knows what it means and it is quite irresponsible of the government to refer to antibody tests as a 'game changer' (I believe Boris said that in a press briefing once).
 
I'm finding it so difficult at the moment. I'm still being careful, following the guidance, having a massively disrupted life, and I know I'm doing the right thing. And yet part of me is incredibly jealous of the people (and I'm sure it's just a minority, but the problem is that psychologically it's a a very visible one) who have said "fuck it" and seem to be enjoying themselves again.
 
I know. I've followed the lockdown absolutely rigidly and I'd thought that my parents had done the same, but when I spoke with my Mum earlier in the week, she mentioned that her hairdresser had come to the house and had given them both cuts. I was genuinely disappointed in them and it makes me feel like an arsehole. I'm convinced that we'll get a second wave and have to lock down again. I look at people quietly deciding what does and doesn't apply to them and I wonder if I'm just an idiot for actually trying to follow the rules.

I think whenever they set the "rules" they know that many people will push things a bit too far, so make them more draconian than needed. And all that does is penalises the people who stick to them.
 
As someone mentioned elsewhere, the guidelines all along have been designed if not subtly encouraged to be ignored. I'd add that even the Cummings fiasco was probably done on purpose at the blessing of Boris. To be seen to be doing something while also sending the subliminal message of "pleeeease just ignore us, and do what you want". Why? Probably wanting natural herd immunity as mentioned in the beginning, but a more cynical part of me thinks eugenics and happily letting it kill off the weak and some of the welfare burdens.

Going by other countries, this next step of opening up hospitality is what will trigger wave 2 (because indoors and social by nature). It probably won't overwhelm the NHS, as they're better prepared now, which is all that the Tory government is bothered about. So we might not see another lockdown, but would be wise to keep vulnerable people protected by our own initiative.
 
Do we have any Moopy members in LEICESTER? Could be sent back in to lockdown within days according to Priti Patel.

So with these new AIR BRIDGES it’s starting to look very likely that I’ll manage to get away in August :D

Until the plane lands in Crete I won’t quite believe it.
 
I’ve booked a flight to France on 10th July to stay at a friend’s CHATEAU. The flights are changeable if it all goes tits up, so I’m going to risk it.
 
Indeed, now that I'm back to work after 3 months of furlough, I've accrued a load of leave that I have to take by mid-August. So just waiting for Boris to confirm the list of permitted countries and I'll be playing some holiday roulette later!
 
My cruise in October was cancelled (I’m the new Jane McDonald, what of it?) so I am planning on going to Ireland and staying in my house there and possibly never coming back (:o).
 
Not sure Indie would appreciate a Dance Anthems field trip. We’ll have to be sneaky about it. I hear the charming island of Ibiza has some smashing ale and pie establishments!
