Joanne Rowling and other TERFs

I've noticed it's a lot of older women who are taking Rowling's side on this one, unsurprisingly.

It's totally an old VS new generation argument, it's obvious. I think that's what's messiest about this whole thing, that it's her own young fanbase standing up to her.

That definitely feels like it’s going to come up on some talking heads show in the future about sick tabloids.

I love how the characters she created ended up shaping the actors who played them into being nicer, more tolerant people than herself. You are not your creator, I guess.

Shame all this undeserved attention reached BBC News though...

I’ve just seen that headline from the sun

that’s fucking disgusting :gross:

AND the Mumsnet TERFS told him to fuck off because he was a man in a women’s space! :D

Unfortunately, it appears that pretty much all of the people kicking back at Glinner on Mumsnet are new-ish posters with none or few posts ... suggesting that they are probably trans people or their allies rather than dyed-in-the-wool Mumsnet TERFs.

Oh I knew this would draw Octy back in!

Inevitably, I wondered if Moopy would comment - we hadn't given the twisted berk much airtime but I didn't think it would sail right past either.

He's now on Parler a/k/a Racist Twitter with Hopkins.

The good thing about Parler is that anybody with a lick of decency won’t go near it so it’s just a hate filled echo chamber with zero attention since they’re all the same. Hopefully they’ll just turn on each other.

Sounds a bit like when a mate of mine unfortunately ended up funnelled down the alt right pipeline and started being a cunt about certain subjects (mostly when all that stuff was at its worst around 2016, but last I saw he was still being a little bitch about one of the pubs adding a gender neutrality sign to the disabled loo). We were talking something about Facebook and he just randomly chimed in with "well I use Gab."

Didn't even need to look but I did. "The free speech platform". Contents: 100% shite, everything from "mildly but irritatingly alt right" to "full-on neo-Nazism"

Bit younger than me and easily led by internet memes so I still have hope that if it hasn't already passed, it will do.

But yeah the point being, any of these "free speech platforms" are just really places for distilled hate.

These platforms are for people who think that someone disagreeing with them is an infringement of their rights. They've never experienced even the slightest morsel of real structural oppression and can't deal with the slightest pushback of their shitty fucking opinions. A cunts cavalcade circle-jerking themselves into oblivion.

She's off on one again having a go at the shadow environment minister for saying she was using her domestic abuse as a smokescreen for attacking trans rights - I mean that's a massive simplification, but she did argue that as a victim of male abuse she was concerned about what she thinks it's men in women's spaces, so you know... she KINDA DID use her experience with MEN as an argument against TRANS WOMEN.

She also had some HASTY TWEET DELETION DRAMA because she started buttering up Stephen King when she thought he was agreeing with her and then had to DELETE DELETE DELETE when he said "Trans women are women".

It seems like she has gone down an irreversible path. I didn't read her books, but always had her down as being decent and nice. That tweet is revolting, absolutely revolting. I can't get over the wording, it's almost pitifully ironic. I hope this phantom "butch lesbian" friend pulls a Stephen King on her too.

Why is she so obsessed with trans women? :D

In short because she thinks they're secretly men in dresses that want to share their space to prey on young girls and also take away the hard-fought rights women have battled for, like competing in the Olympics or something equally life-altering for middle class people who don't give a fuck about intersectionality.

Basically this. As someone put it elsewhere regarding the loos thing, she's convinced that a potential rapist is put off by a sign with a stick diagram and a triangle skirt. In which case maybe an alternative solution would be to stick up "NO RAPING" signs everywhere and solve the problem of rape once and for all.
