Fire Saga Monday

Last night I started feeling a bit warm, bit of a sore throat, general feeling of sickening for something but no cough. Woke up at 5am coughing a lot and had to jump out of bed and rush to the toilet to retch, head banging, throat still a bit sore. I've had some paracetamol and just feel a bit under the weather now so I'm hoping against hope that it's only a chill from getting piss wet through in the rain on Saturday and nothing more sinister than that.

Pray for me Moopy.

Are you going for a test?

Are you going for a test?

Not yet. Haven't coughed much this morning and my chest is fine, not tight or anything. When I'm ill it's normally my chest that fails first and I've also been doing quite a bit of sneezing which is making me lean more towards having caught a chill rather than the 'rona. If I'm honest the only way I'll get tested is if I end up in hospital and will have no choice about it.

MORNING ish

Work have sent me a giant monitor for working at home. Frankly the office can fuck off now, I've got all I need.

I've just been informed I'm going down to 2 days a week for the duration of summer :disco:
2 days in the office, or 2 days working/3 days furlough?

A friend of mine was furloughed at the start of the all this and has held up surprisingly well considering he lives alone and has always been a live-to-work type. He's just been told me can start working again. 1 day a week. :D Literally what is the point?

He works in retail and his last job before furlough was to forecast sales for the next few months. When he presented the doom and gloom figures they told him to adjust them as they were too low. :D

2 days working, 3 days furlough.

Although this isn't very good for my attempt to quit smoking, as I'd been confining it to the weekends, but now the weekend is 5 days long I'm FUCKED.

You can't be part furlough, it's all or nothing! My work tried to do that to start with but realised you can't

I’m still no closer to finding out if I’ll be working from home. I don’t think they understand how much of my future happiness rests on me getting the go-ahead for this.

I did think that was the case.

Presumably a company can put you on 'part furlough' if they're paying the money without government support though.

Part time furlough is just starting now, isn't it? I know the government were talking about introducing it, but I have to say I've not followed whether it's happening or not.

My boss kept THREATENING it, but in fairness, I'm SEMI CONFIDENT he won't in my case...

We ran it by our lawyer and he okayed it. It's possible from the 1st of July.

In other news I need to get my house kimono repaired but feel a bit awkward asking the japanese seamstress at work to do it for me.

Flexible furlough comes in from 1st July. Staff can come back on reduced hours and the employer can claim the difference between their reduced and usual hours as furlough pay for them.

I’ve never seen work so busy :bruised:

Just because you can go to the shops and hairdressers now doesn’t mean you need to come to A+E with the most MINUTE injuries.

I assume people are chancing that because they don't think they can see a GP.

Hey hun. Woke up today with sensitivity to light and what the Internet describes as a floater in the lower right hand of my vision. This is not normal. I get visual migraines once in a while. I feel a bit coldy to boot.

Should I be concerned?

Thanks!

Floaters are generally normal, I have loads! I'm guessing it's just one eye? (Close each eye at a time to check). They're normally nothing to worry about, the main things to look out for are;
Any increase in size or number of floaters
Any flashing lights seen
Any shadows across your vision
I would monitor it, if you notice any changes then get it checked out ASAP

Yeah it was just one eye. It was quite dark and much bigger than the normal wiggly bits I get, although I may be struggling to recollect. Will keep a track. Cheers! :)

Did it just last a short time?

Once. I was at work so couldn’t go. The only time it’s ever rung

I was taking to a couple of friends who volunteered over the weekend. One had two calls, the other none.

It was set up for good reasons but, like a lot of the coronavirus infrastructure, ended up being entirely unnecessary.
