Washington (CNN) President Donald Trump's campaign is demanding CNN retract and apologize for a recent poll that showed him well behind presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

The demand, coming in the form of a cease and desist letter to CNN President Jeff Zucker that contained numerous incorrect and misleading claims, was immediately rejected by the network. "We stand by our poll," said Matt Dornic, a CNN spokesman.

The CNN poll conducted by SSRS and released on Monday shows Trump trailing the former vice president by 14 points, 55%-41%, among registered voters. It also finds the President's approval rating at 38% -- his worst mark since January 2019, and roughly on par with approval ratings for one-term Presidents Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush at this point in their reelection years -- and his disapproval rating at 57%

I’m not expert on American politics AT ALL, but it seems Trump’s team have no idea how to campaign against a vaguely faceless centre-right white man that most people have no strong opinions about whatsoever aside than that they HATE TRUMP :D

Perhaps they should just lock Biden in a cupboard until November and let Trump hang himself. “Fake news” seems to be the main re-election message they are driving from what I’ve seen.
 
I mean why wouldn't he? It's messy, petty and totally extra...are we sure Trump isn't GAY?
 
I'm amazed he deleted it - cheering on his supporters literally shouting "white power" seems pretty ON BRAND.

The polling is pretty fucking awful for Trump. I know we shouldn't be complacent in almost July but I do get the feeling the tide may have turned at last. He's basically failed the test in a really grotesque public way.
 
If Biden won all the states he's leading in right now, and you took away Pennsylavania, Florida and Texas (87 electoral votes between them) he'd still beat Trump by 68.

This is also without factoring how Covid-19 is going to play out in the States, there was a report yesterday that it’s on the verge of being completely out of control...
 
It only needs a swap of 43 electoral votes for the Democrats to win. It wouldn't take much.

And yes Biden is trash, but the most important bit is he's less trash than Trump.

Well that seems rather unlikely. Postal votes are of course an option. No idea what the progress is with them atm.

Obviously Trump is against them as they apparently disadvantage Republicans.
 
Some states are experiencing much worse resurgences than others. Florida and California, in particular, are gonna have to reverse their reopening because their cases are booming again.

New York, on the other hand, has really knocked it out of the park with their restrictions and falling rates.

I can't help but feel like we're being lulled into a false sense of security.
 
At this point I'm genuinely quite nervous that he's lived down to every fear we had about his presidency bar using the nuclear codes.
 
The Sunday Herald's write of up of Trump's inauguration in 2017 has always stuck with me. Hilariously dark if not accurate. I really don't think I can take another 4 years.
