Kala love prepare for the votes to come at two minutes to nine via Instagram in a completely random order.

I KNOW WHO’S BEHIND YEMEN

Is it YOU?

Oh DC. I find a quick shot of creme de menthe is the most effective way to get the smell of turd out of one’s breath.

When are the results pls Kala? Do we get the Semi 1 results first or both semis together?

I have listened quite closely and pass these verdicts so far.

01 CHILE - Alvaro Soler - Sofia - This is a good opener and is one of the most commercial tracks available. It has a folky quality to it that puts it a notch above its contemporaries. Alvaro seems to know its a good track too, and that enthusiasm can be heard if you listen hard enough (by comparison, I still think about poor Molly, Frankie, Una, Vanessa, Rochelle forced to sing and sell 'Gentleman' when they woulda known it was the worst kind of nonsense).

02 SLOVAKIA - Fallgrapp - Zrkadlia nás - this is nearly there, but feels quite constructed in its feeling and energy. By contrast...

03 AUSTRIA - Caramella Girls - Caramelltanzen - ...this song always gets me because it unapologetically wears its heart on its sleeve. All of homo sapien's problems could be solved if we could just get the world leaders to do a synced caramelltanz. Not since "Don't Bother" by Shakira have I been so moved.

04 JAMAICA - Grace Jones - La Vie En Rose - To be fair, this is an enjoyable effort. I wonder if the poster behind the composition was truly going for gold, however.

05 JAPAN - Nami Shimada - Sunshower - This is my kinda vibe. The bass and the tempo have sucked me in and I know we're gonna be friends for life. Dance music like this has a way of telling a story unlike any other genre.

06 UKRAINE - Vremya i Steklo - Troll - competent but heartless. I enjoyed this nevertheless, but wouldn't trust it down a dark alley.

07 MEXICO - Gaby Noya & Tonny Boom - Sin Autotune - ...whereas this is all heart really. There's a quiet triumph in this song that makes it seem like a winner regardless of end ranking. I'm also a massive fan of autotune @tinabarrett - you'd love this one.

08 SAN MARINO - Baby K feat. Guisy Ferreri - Roma - Bangkok - quite a chatty fun4moopy moment. I enjoyed this.

09 LIECHTENSTEIN - Kompromat - Niemand - found this difficult to be honest. It’s not that I dislike it, but it’s such a huge mood and guess what, I’m not a robot. But I am always willing to learn.

10 COLOMBIA - The Bongo Hop feat. Nidia Gongora - 'Tite Jeanne - I appreciate this for what it is, but I need more statements really. Why u so relaxed?

11 FINLAND - Antti Tuisku - Valittu kansa - the poster who sent this is a messy queen, but also a risk-taker and I respect that. there’s a lot happening here, and yet kind of nothing at all. I like it.

12 SOUTH KOREA - Red Velvet - Power Up - sounds like children’s tv theme music. The video adds a sinister twist. I believe this to be the most evil song in the competition so far.

13 LUXEMBOURG - Angèle - Oui ou Non - an inoffensive light slice on the surface, but there’s something about it that stays with you.

14 YEMEN - A-WA - Hana Mash Hu Al Yaman- a very powerful song and I absolutely love it. This moved me.

15 FRANCE - Jeanne Mas - Toute Première Fois - now this is exactly what I lap up, and I will keep
this song forever. This is a front runner for me.

16 PERU - Mecano - Quiero vivir en la ciudad - this is very sweet, a sentimental lil postcard from Peru.

17 SWEDEN - Veronica Maggio - Stopp - I think it’s hard for whoever is Sweden for obvious reasons. Not the biggest fan of this

18 ESTONIA - Getter Jaani - Kullaväljade Tuul - whereas this earnest eesti-pop is exactly the sort
Of stuff I like to have contemplative moments too. I didn’t realise Getter was a singer as well as a magician.

19 TURKEY - Gulsen - Bangir Bangir - it’s hard for the last songs I feel - this feels somewhat laboursome but let me just have two drinks and I’ll be bangir banging on the floor.

Is the second semi tonight? I don’t think I’ll be around for it sadly :(

Anyone who is only around for one of the semis should be disqualified on the basis that they have revealed which semi their song was in.

Might be the only way that I can actually do well in one of these things.

Finland is massively improved without that video.

I felt the same about Mexico. I really thought everyone in that video was a horrible person.

I think the videos for both of these really helped me connect with the songs. They were just so fun and attention-grabbing, I'm not sure I'd have been so taken with those entries had I not sat and watched through everything.

Is this happening now or in a couple of hours?
