It’s funny how quickly the BLITZ SPIRIT can fly out the window isn’t it!

Yeah, the Blitz in which people literally went around like this:

Polarised world... bottom dollar says the NOMASK people are the same people as those who vote Brexit/Trump and sneer at "leftie libtard cucks"

OMG D E A D at this clip doing the rounds from March :D

JUSTICE FOR CAPRICE!!

(honestly, they way they sneer at her genuinely made me shudder with REVOLT)

I'm not listening to a lady with a glass of water stuck to her hand, no matter how much of an expert she is

That Sarah Jarvis woman is fucking AWFUL.

It's not so much as the fact she was completely wrong, but it was the way she patronisingly spoke to Caprice. The contempt, the sneering, the belittlement, the bitchiness. Imagine having her as your GP?

And meanwhile, while Twitter erupts, Caprice just eats cake: :D

I think the strangest thing about that Caprice clip is the way Vine shuts it down as 'we're can't have the experts vs some newspaper' when the format of his show is literally 'we've invited a journalist, a lobbyist, a footballer and Gemma off TOWIE to debate [insert issue they clearly have no grip on here]'.

I just cannot with the anti-mask brigade. I don't even vaguely UNDERSTAND IT!

If they went into hospital would they expect all the doctors and nurses to be UNMASKED also.

This. I am utterly bewildered. I thought it was solely an American disease to be so INCONVENIENCED by a rule that keeps people safe.

The seatbelt analogy is the best one. If you are willing to strap yourself into a car, why are you not willing to gently cover your face when you enter a public place?

It's the same old reactionary idiots. I propose that "the left" starts a #BreatheOxygen campaign so that they'll think it's a TERRIBLE LEFTIE LIBERAL idea to get people breathing in some kind of mind control gas or make them think they're another gender or something, and stop doing it.

I think they'll end up encouraging masks here but not make them mandatory. it's going worryingly well here...

I know any progress we're making here seems at a glance to be stagnating, but the rolling average of cases HAS come down by 28% since the start of July, and deaths are down 28% in that time too.

OK so we're unlikely to see the PUB EFFECT for another week or so but could it be that they are VAGUELY on top of stuff in the loosest sense?

Apparently we have among the lowest rates of infection in the country round here. It has barely hit North East Essex.

My mum came out of retirement and went back to work as a nurse, and finished at the end of June (her choice and after three months). I asked if she was still needed, her words were that yes she was needed as the NHS always needs staff no matter what. But for covid specifically, no.

But like everyone I'm keeping an eye on what happens as more and more business open up. I'm not watching everything religiously on account of my own mental health, but it strikes me as odd how so many of my friends and acquaintances seem to have no clue. Complaining about masks being uncomfortable or answering "wtf?!" When told we need to give our name and phone number to make a pub booking. Seriously where have people been?

Us too. We were in the bottom 3 areas for a while- I don’t think much has changed.

Yeah, as I've mentioned a few times there's basically fuck all cases around here and hasn't been for at least a month.

Two hours but well worth watching.

I can summarise if needed but I'd recommend you give it a watch if you have time!

Sir Pat threw the Dept of Health & Social Care, Public Health England and BoJo under the bus. He basically said that we should have locked down earlier, should have started using masks earlier (dating back to April) and should have ramped up testing and test/trace much much earlier - yes I know it all sounds fairly obvious to all at this point in time but think back to government propaganda and the daily briefings and you'll see my point.

The focus on R value is pretty meaningless at this point in time (he's clearly exasperated by the government's focus on it).

People should still work from home if they can.

We are still very much in the middle of the first wave. Any resurgence in numbers (quite inevitable as we are opening up) is still part of the first wave.

He is clearly drawing a very clear line between the scientists and medics advising the government and the government's policy. And he is quite right.

I had reservations about him at the start and I think he was slow to act but at least he's showing some teeth now. He's no Dr Faucci (my COVID era idol) but he'll do.

It started when Gordon Brown apologised to that bigoted woman.
This is so right. I used to say it was when Milliband ate the sandwich but when voters feelings become more important than facts it was game over for reasonable politics.

He really should have owned it.

Boris “hopes” everything will be back to normal in time for Christmas. As fucking if! If anything the winter months are likely to see the emergence of a second wave.

Lol at our official policy now being HOPE.

I see he wants to open arenas just before winter. What could go wrong!
