But in all fairness it has always been an aspect of her voice. It's why it can be marmite to a lot of people.
 
Yes but for the last 20 years or so it's been more of a technique/choice. She doesn't always sound nasal. She can tone it up or down depending on the song.

The Say Something vocals are perfectly acceptable.
 
She can go a bit nasal for me live

but then I’m a nasal Queen too

and her vox have really held up / got better as the years have went on.
 
I find her live vocals almost unlistenable at times. When she has to project, things can get VERY nasal and unpleasant indeed. Her studio vocals are never as nasal, because she doesn’t have to project.

An arena setting is MUCH more forgiving than a television broadcast though.
 
This is true. If I saw half of my faves on TV giving the same vocal that just tore my scalp off in an arena i'm sure i'd be at least a little shocked :D (by the power!)

On the contrary, I think it separates the wheat from the chaff! It's not like anybody was saying Beyoncé or Adele sounded below par in their Glasto sets.

I was thinking this yesterday when he dropped the name out of nowhere. Eddie just likes everyone to know HE KNOWS MORE. He does it all the time. Once you get used to it, it’s less annoying.

Oh I'm genuinely not trying to be a know-it-all AT ALL.

It's fair to say that some producers know how to get more out of an artist than others and going by the criticism that Golden faced as an album, many of the issues were directed at tracks by that particular producer.

Whereas the guy who was behind two of the best tracks on the album (Lost Without You, Radio On) has delivered again with Say Something.

It's the last time I'll mention it. Promise!
 
Well I just had the full Glasto set on in the background while doing a particularly tedious work task, and nasal vocals or no I found myself involuntarily welling up all over again in places.

What a woman.

Are we REALLY comparing her to Beyoncé and Adele? Really??

All that aside, she has stated she wasn't entirely happy with her Glasto set anyway.
 
It's a fair criticism, Sky Adams recycled several melodies across Golden and did a fucking horrible job with mixing/mastering (none worse than on Dancing).

I didn't have a problem with all his songs on Golden (not compared to other people on here at least) - just the ones that veered into parody and where she could and should have sounded better.

I still love Live A Little to this day despite the slightly irksome vocal.

Not particularly, I'm just saying the whole "outdoor performances don't give a proper indication of someone's vocal talent" THING only applies to SOME singers.

Actually it still applies to all singers. The sound in outdoor venues is more variable and difficult to predict than the controlled acoustics of an arena or theatre setting. That is simply fact.

As for Beyonce and Adele - I'm not interested in pitting SIFs (strong independent females) against each other and it is a narrative that I have wished to be excluded from since 2014.

Oh yes and I agree. Perhaps it’s just my cynical slant but my interpretation would be more that the controlled indoor settings are more flattering for less good fingers rather than outdoor ones screwing over competent ones. Glastonbury and the likes are much more exposing, but not unfairly so.

Anyway like others have said, everyone knows what they’re getting with Kylie vox, she’s certainly not terrible and I doubt they’re a dealbreaker for most (myself included). I don't mean to do her down as much as it probably seems!

Moopy are a fickle bunch though. I recall Lost Without You getting a unanimously positive reaction here.
 
"Lost Without You" is fantastic and it was one of the standouts on the tour. I like a few songs on Golden but it is far from being a favourite. In fact I've said it many times here that I probably prefer KMO to Golden!

I always found Lost Without You to be fairly STANDARD among her oeuvre of more genuinely spectacular sparkly melancholic dance-pop bangers. It's nothing special.
 
Sometimes I really wish we had a OH FUCK OFF button we could click on posts. I'd have used it COUNTLESS times in this thread.

To be fair, her Hyde Park gig a few years earlier was far stronger, vocally. As was the Radio 2 live gig (also at Hyde Park) in the year before. Nerves may have got the better of her at Glastonbury.
