This is his fourth appearance on the list (twice as JX, once as Rex the Dog and once as part of Planet Perfecto), and by far his most popular. The vocals here are lifted from ‘Heartbeat’ by Seduction, which technically makes this another notch on the bedpost for C+C Music Factory and a top ten placing for Michelle Visage. It also samples ‘Funky Drummer’ by James Brown. I absolutely love this and wanted it to win if none of mine could. Moopy must have got wind of this and summarily fucked it over. I’ve taken it personally and I will be bringing formal charges.

He followed this up with another THREE top ten smashes, none of which you could hum if I offered you a tenner. In 2016, Haddaway tried to crowdfund a movie called Neverending Dream about the Eurodance movement. It wasn’t successful, which I assume was down to him not prominently featuring Karen Parry in his campaign material. A character apparently sings ‘What is Love’ in Black Panther, but I’ve not seen it and I kind of feel a bit racist for that.
