Thanks. :) And I think it will be the right choice in the end. Just a bit nervous about Spain going into total lockdown again and being stuck alone in a new city.
 
Are Spain making travellers in quarantine or is it just travellers out that need to do that?
 
We both tested negative today which is a RELIEF

Guess the other symptoms are corona-stress! :(

Ohhh Palma is lovely!

There are some fantastic gay bars with saunas and dark rooms.

There’s also a right little underground gay scene away from that which only the locals know about.

This is good to hear!

Google was saying there were a couple of gay bars but made it sound like the gay scene was pretty tiny.
 
Woke up today quite nostalgic for lockdown after a few dreams. I know it was horrible for a lot of people but I miss the empty roads and the nice sunsets in the evening.

And not feeling the pressure to have a social life. :(

So people are meant to quarantine after returning from Spain. What happens if you don’t?
 
I'm not sure how enforcable it is. If they can't even contact people with track and trace, I doubt they'll be able to monitor who is going into quarantine after travelling. I assume everyone is meant to use GOOD OLD BRITISH COMMON SENSE. :rolleyes:

When you return to the UK you have to fill in an electronic form before your flight. They check it when you arrive at the home airport. You tell them the address you're staying in, people you're staying with, the nature of your travels etc.

I had to do it yesterday for Italy but Italy is on the list.

This exactly. It may make a slight difference to some but I can imagine most will step off the plane from Benidorm and head straight to Aldi for the weekly shop.
 
We both got negative test results yesterday, feels very uplifting, like a lighthouse in a sea

I understand the processes but the only way to prevent the virus coming in to the country is to stop people leaving the country which comes with a load of its own complications...

Yep the current government is very keen on the concept of "nudging". They'll never actually enforce any of this stuff, it's just a bit of sabre rattling to get people to take their "suggestions" seriously
 
This Spain quarantine thing has made one of my friends send me a DOZEN texts at 8 this morning panicking about our trip to Valencia in two weeks.

I'm NOT going to start worrying yet!

I met some friends today for a beer garden lunch, my first since we've been able to. It all went fine with contact details and temperatures taken beforehand, but tonight I've thrown up twice and had awful trouble at the other end. Presumably it's food poisoning and not coronavirus, but I'm taking it as a sign anyway :(
 
I think that certainly sounds like food poisoning to me. I know it’s hard though, basically any symptom I get these days my first thought is corona

I've heard from various people that they got sick the first time they'd eaten out after lockdown; maybe our bodies have just got used to a much narrower range of ingredients over the past few months and there's a bit of a shock in having something external (although it sounds like you've had it worse than most).
 
Jet2 have just cancelled all Canary and Balearic island flights.

Starting to consider nixing the move to Mallorca. Maybe it was naive to think working abroad this year was viable.

I’m mystified by this strategy to get everyone to lose 5lbs to protect the NHS. The figures being peddled out are PURE NONSENSE. Apparently we can save £100 million over 5 years. So £20 million a year, or a saving of 28p per person per year. If it really requires such POCKET CHANGE to stay afloat them it’s a bigger problem than banning McDonalds adverts.

It surely doesn't take a genius to work out that problems such as obesity, mental health and depression can have a direct correlation to how happy people are (obviously being extremely simplistic here) and are much more deep-rooted to the wider state of society and how it is stacked against those without disproportionate wealth and privilege.
 
It's a good job I put a stone on over lockdown (and yes a large part of that was the misery / emotional eating) so that I can be a hero and claim to be saving the NHS almost 3 times over when getting back into shape...
 
119 deaths yesterday. All in England.

49 deaths in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Combined. In the WHOLE of July.
