It's been closed to motor traffic for ages now but yesterday afternoon they SUDDENLY closed it to pedestrians and cyclists as well. As Octy says the heat fucked it further. Doesn't affect me too much as I only go that way for walking/running or pubs (thank fuck we had a nice evening in the Coach & Horses' splendid beer garden last weekend ) but my friend who lives the other side is not terribly pleased.
