i.e. musical artists you like which you think wouldn't be expected given the usual shit you bang on about here

Personally I love a bit of Billy Joel

I have a weird soft spot for, not sure how to put it, but like middle of the road rock. Lips of an Angel, a smattering of Live tracks, some Pearl Jam etc. Not very on brand with my usual car crash tastic taste

I do love a bit of REM and The Donnas

Oh and JET!

All off-brand for me

I love the new Fontaines DC album - I just wouldn’t start a topic on it as I wouldn’t have much to say about it other than “isn’t it good” and possibly “wow the frontman is quite good looking isn’t he?” :D

Most of my favs tend to be amongst the R&B/Funk/Soul 70s-90s, plus the Rock/Pop stuff I grew up with, yet Barenaked Ladies are one of my all time favourite bands and I suppose they’re sometimes classed as Alt-Rock. I do like that kind of music but don’t have another singular band I would delve deep into and buy all their albums.

Most of what would be "off-brand" for me IRL is perfectly acceptable on Moopy. There has been some surprise in the office at my affection for "Future Nostalgia" but I don't think Moopy batted the proverbial false eyelash. Ditto Taylor Swift.

Artists and that me and Ig see live/buy their albums regularly include Marillion and Texas. Texas only once admittedly but would probably have gone again if it weren't for Rona.

I remember going to see Texas many moons ago. NEVER AGAIN.

I have a soft spot for some Fish-era Marillion but they;ve been a very different kind of band for over 30 years now.

Probably Bruce Springsteen. I have also a fondness for American melancholic indie bands. Mellow jazz floats my boat if the mood is right. 90s Britpop too, but that's more obvious.

That's not super off-brand for you though given your Dido fandom :eyes:

I actually quite like reggae. I don’t actively seek it out but I like it when I hear it. Also more predictable Zu things like Matthias Goerne and austere religious choral works, and I love a countertenor. Andreas Scholl in particular
