Katy Perry - Smile (5th Studio Album)

#2 on U.K. airplay is good though

success!

But literally how? Radio 1 gave it an apologetic C-listing. Is it that big on the drivetime stations?

#2 is surprisingly good, joint the top 5 with Hallucinate :gross: and a cover of Dancing in the moonlight :manson:

well, glad I don’t have a radio anyway

Kylie #11 :o

It's weird though, like it's doing absolutely nothing really on any streaming platforms, even on sales it isn't top 20...yet is somehow like this massive radio hit. On what planet...

It's just an easy song for radio. It might not do anything as a single but it's awareness for the album which will be crucial for a good opening week

Yeah it's a very easy radio song, especially at the moment where a song called SMILE is a bit of a no-brainer.
It's A-list on Radio 2, and must be A-List on the Capital network?

It's C-List on Radio 1, which I think is the first time they've supported her since Never Really Over.

Are the album credits on Wikipedia correct? No sign of Max Martin which means she LIED. This will be absolute garbage.

Small Talk was also playlisted on Radio 1 and I'm sure I heard that Hawaii one on there too. They have been pretty supportive of her for both this and the last album despite the diminishing returns chartwise. She did their Big weekend a fee times which I think helps with the continued playlising. Still wont help in the UK, this album is DOA.

it's at #27 on UK iTunes and #147 on UK Apple Music.

it might be her first top 40 thump since Never Really Over which peaked at #12 in the UK.

it debuted at #21 on the US Bubbling Under 100 Chart and looks like it will disappear until the album release week where it will be revived a bit.

i still can't at how she went from 9 #1s to 9 Bubbling Under flops in 4 years.

Not myself, not my best
Felt like I failed the test
But every tear has been a lesson
Rejection can be God's protection
Long hard road to get that redemption
But no shortcuts to a blessin'
Had a piece of humble pie
That ego check saved my life

:(

"What Makes A Woman" is out there. Pleasant, but a short, unremarkable, mostly acoustic ballad that never really goes anywhere. Nice enough album closer though.

I mean I’m not sure how you can like every song we’ve heard but Never Really Over, Daisies and Smile are all good to me

I genuinely like Never Worn White, Small Talk, What Makes A Woman and Harleys in Hawaii too. It’s sounding like the most pure pop album of the year.

10 Never Really Over
08 Daisies
05 Smile
04 Never Worn White
06 What Makes a Woman (the 2nd minute)
03 What Makes a Woman (the first minute)

jesus christ. i haven't been this unexcited about a project since Jessie J's Christmas album.

no, but i'm a pretentious snob who stans talent that happens to be critically acclaimed by music experts. that's all. :zsazsa:
