Obviously like everyone I'm obsessed with the Venusian song, but all I can think of when I hear it is this legendary video:

So I discovered a song on Friday that I've had on repeat since and I'm fuming that I found it too late.

And I'm sure I'll be sick of it by the time another song contest comes around...

I agree the Countess's follow up "où est le bibliotheque" is better than the debut, so I look forward to seeing it in the next ASFM

I just can't with Venus, even with the cutie mariachi doggies.

Raini was NINETEEN and old enough to know better when she released that.
 
My song doesn’t seem to cross over and attract more than its expected niche target group.

I don’t know if I should panic and start campaigning or just blame it all on the recap video and the generally bad taste of Moopy.
 
Feels like I should confirm that Iguana gave me no additional information re: who entered what, I made the recap video knowing my own entry and nothing else. I'm not sure anyone would think otherwise, it just popped into my head as something I ought to mention!
 
I’ve made my way through the first half and despite a slow start I seem to have ended up with nine songs on my shortlist.

Assuming it’ll be more or less the same ratio next time I feel comfortable enough ditching the rest right now.

No! Though I think we could probably both guess each others very easily. I am certain I know his anyway; it is one he played for me randomly a few months back, thinking I'd love it.

I look forward to giving him his answer in points (or lack thereof)
 
So I have a shortlist of 17 now. I'll be listening to them all again tomorrow and hopefully getting my scores in by the evening.

One of the songs in the second part may well be my least favourite of all the competitions so far.
 
OMG I really want to comment on the songs but I'd need to mention mine in a :eyes: kind of way but it'll be obvious that it's mine, but if I don't mention it and people are like, oh I thought funky would like that one, then it'll be obvious that's it's mine

Make a non-commital, fairly innocuous comment about the video, then lean in on someone accusing you of being a different song. Works for me.
 
I'm done too. Will send through now.

My top 2 are keepers. Love them both. Had to listen to them 3 times to decide which one came 1st. And I swapped them at the last minute :o

The dance tracks didn't dominate my scores as much as I thought they would, but there's still a few in there and a couple are very good

The autism in me had hoped all my entries could be PROPER COUNTRIES but unfortunately a couple of the random island states / made up places submitted VERY GOOD SONGS :eyes: so that's out the window. Damn you.
 
Lol HALF of my votes are for non-sovereign states so never mind about that. Also one that doesn’t exist any more.

As for my top score... my first is in Alexandra Burke but not in Leona Lewis
 
Oh I won’t make a secret about the fact that I did NOT like that one that was like a fast slideshow. It hurt my eyes
