Look! I’m Thursday! Howdy howdy howdy

I actually slept very well (for me) last night. I only woke up around 5.

I’ve got a virtual flat viewing at 10. Hope she’s not a total cow. x

MORNING. I slept very well too for the first time in WEEKS.

I also INEXPLICABLY smashed through my weight target this morning, despite having a steak and ale pie at a pub lunch yesterday :disco:

I’ve spent my way to work planning my NEXT ASFM entry, which leads me to believe I’m acting perfectly rationally and in no way obsessed.

It is the host's prerogative to get obsessed!

Ag's post yesterday did make me think a bit about Moopy and obsession. I think a lot of us are obsessed. I don't necessarily think it's an unhealthy obsession - there are FAR worse things - but it can be quite intense. Like my post count last week. Still, as long as it's fun, I don't see the harm

I'm not entirely sure what use words like 'obsession' or 'addiction' are in this context, to be honest. I prefer just to consider if the behaviour is problematic or having a negative impact on your life.

Because they have negative connotations? Yes I agree, I feel like if you're 'addicted', that leads to feeling guilty about it. But sometimes I can feel a bit guilty about the amount of time I spend here - what am I missing out on elsewhere? But that doesn't mean I want to stop. The kind of interaction we all have with each other gives me a buzz and a sense of community that's probably deeper than other relationships I have (other than with Tisch!), mainly because, well, who spends this much time with anyone else?

You want to give crack a try

I like to retreat into Moopy and I’m the first to admit I spend a shitload of time on here, but if you look at the day overall it still doesn’t equate to a huge amount. I think it’s been a godsend during isolation to still be able to keep up a fairly active social life without having to get up off the sofa.

I’ve barely spoken to anyone else since March :shy:

Same. I didn;t see anyone except work colleagues until the very end of August. Since then, I visited my brother's family to give my niece her birthday prezzies but we had to stay outside in the garden. That's my lot. No wonder I'm feeling dislocated.

Anyone looking for further proof that I have unravelled yet further will be pleased to know that this morning I took delivery of 9CDs worth of demos by Andy Partridge of XTC. In three 3CD sets. Can't wait to dig in.

(NB - apologies for not going through amazon but I bought direct from the artist's webstore - the Wedding Present CD I did buy through amazon has also arrived so don't hate me)

Post-covid moopmeet needed more than ever :disco:

Real life people are quite shit. I keep playing them songs and asking them to assign me a score out of 20 and they just look at me gone out.
And I’m sick of explaining why I shout ‘colon disco colon’ whenever something vaguely excites me :disco:

Are you not working just now, hun? Or are you 'working' from home?:D

Apart from my mum and BF, I've met a couple of friends but not much else. We all started on HouseParty and Zoom etc at the beginning of lockdown but that tapered off after a while, as I am sure it did with everyone else too.

As for 'working from home' - well, I've had periods during lockdown where I have been very busy, working 15 hour days and weekends - but I think I still posted through that period. I just work at my desk so I'm not off on a farm with no reception or something :D

Yeah, I think I literally ran out of things to say on Zoom :shy:

I only do a Zoom call now with my one of my closest friends who lived in Dubai but is just moving back to Australia this week as she lost her job with Emirates. I still chat to others on Whats App and Messenger but the video call thing certainly got boring after a while.

So I’ve just done my first major presentation in my new job to our members on zoom with colleagues from partner organisations sitting in.

One of them just emailed me saying “I love that you signed off the meeting by blowing a kiss to camera”

I didn’t. I sign ‘thank you’ at the end of video calls. Now I’m mortified people think I’ve been blowing them air kisses for weeks.

My social zoom chats have dried up as well, other than with one small group of friends, but they are about once every three weeks now after the initial weekly ones.

I've noticed zoom chats always end up lasting much longer than phone chats though, even when it's just two of us. And invariably involve at least a bottle of wine.

Yes I was on a Zoom chat with my friend for 4 hours, we talked shit, drank wine, played some games and had a right laugh, I was knackered after it! :D

I had one last week of a similar length, drinking all the way through and felt perfectly fine while it was happening. As soon as it ended though, I felt totally hammered immediately, for some reason.

Yeah this! I stood up, had a dead leg and fell over. Thankfully the Kylie wine bottle was empty at this point!

Why does the Hammersmith & City/Circle line ALWAYS have weekend closures when I need to get to Liverpool Street
