I’ve not really worked that out yet. :D

I’m staying with one of my best friends in Angel initially, and potentially looking at a flat share with another friend in Clapham/Brixton area. If that falls through then a it’ll be with randoms or a cardboard box x

I'd place a tenner on us being in a national lockdown before the end of October. Or most likely, half term as proposed by the advisors. Boris can harp on all he likes about how he doesn't want it and he's determined not to, surely we all know by now that what he says he wants and what he eventually does are very different things. Keep one side happy by purporting to be on theirs, then please the other side by doing a u turn. Schrodinger's PM.

I'm taking the 2 weeks thing with a heap of salt as well - it was meant to be 2 weeks last time and ended up what, 5 months? Because we'd lost control due to the period of "no we mustn't go into national lockdown OH GO ON THEN", and seems we will again. Not that I WANT to go into full fuckdown but if we have to, then better to get it over with ASAP before we totally lose control of the spread (as if we haven't already) and end up stuck in it for 5 months instead of 2-3 weeks. Hell, mid October? We'll be on 50k daily cases by then, though we'll only be counting about 5 or 6k due to testing capacity.

In terms of deaths etc, hospitalisations are going exponential again and this could mean that deaths do shortly, it's all lag and as we can see from case numbers once exponential growth happens it all goes to shit very rapidly. But fingers crossed they somehow stay low. There is increasing evidence (see below video) that mask wearing helps the wearer as if they do get it it'll be a low viral load and effectively like inoculation. We just have to try and convince everyone else of this so that they'll chuck them on their faces rather than Asbo's car park.

I really can't think about being stuck here in the winter time. Though at least I have my family here I guess.

If schools stay open then fine, really, because I'll get work, but if not then I need to get a job asap.
 
Holland CANCELLED, JANCELLED and GEANNULEERD :(

and since it's not alert alert I probably won't get a refund, just a voucher. I'm fine with that though if they fly Europe-Japan, I'm hoping (as if) for a trip next March
 
Death rates are staying down (for now) and only 2% of deaths are in care homes. It’s a very different demographic catching and spreading it this time, so whilst infection rates are high we might not see the same increase in deaths.

interestingly, at peak last time there were a few places which didn’t see case growth for a good 5-6 weeks behind the bigger cities. This time it’s rising everywhere at the same time.

I’ve booked my train ticket to London, and given I actually do not have anywhere else I can live ( :D ) as most of my friends are either also moving out or live in one bedroom flats, I’m going to consider this essential travel. Sorry Nic.

According to Nicola the cases are now rising rapidly and not just in the young and able.
 
our PM is on in five minutes. I dread where it could be headed... I'm this close to become a tinfoil sceptic just to give me the mental energy to keep dealing with this shit
 
I think that statement is very much sign posting a national lockdown.

She has asked for a COBRA meeting (she probably won't get one) so that she can try and convince Wesminster to be more cautious than they are being is my assumption. This will mean extending Furlough and what not as well.

She wants to avoid the same March-style Lockdown, but we will still need a fuckton of restrictions. It sounded to me that it was basically going to be full lockdown except for schools.

There are likely to be further restrictions. Given that Boris and Co. are still adamant everyone needs to go to work and visit the pub, I doubt we’ll be going into a full lockdown next week but certainly heading in that direction. Nic will probably be pushing for it.

They buttered us up last time - Boris advised everyone to work from home etc on March 16th before the full announcement of complete lockdown the week after.
 
okay that wasn't too bad. no groups bigger than 50 (was 100 till now), bars and restaurants to close at 22, public and private companies encouraged to work from home. all so far until October 4th

It really does feel like delaying the inevitable like we were doing in February. I know deaths are down, but surely postponing lockdown until half term just means we have a month to stew?

Japan remains closed for gaijins since March and it doesn't look like it will re-open anytime soon :-(
