It seemed very busy for a Friday lunchtime. The fruit and veg isle was pretty much empty and everyone just seemed a lot more aware of social distancing than they have been in the past few weeks (although they isn’t necessarily a bad thing!)

It feels like we’re back in early March again :( Although I think I’d rather have a full blown national lockdown for a few weeks rather than trudging along with a load of half-arsed local restrictions.

I was in Tesco earlier and it was business as usual. There wasn’t the remotest air of panic.
 
Anyway, I REALLY need there not to be another lockdown right now- for my Dad’s cancer to be dealt with properly, for me to still be able to have access to them and their house properly and without restriction as I’m suddenly their primary carer and also cause I’m starting a new job in 10 days and have no idea how that will work.

Oh, and the gym and the sea. Don’t take the sea away from me. Right now, with everything going on, I think I’d break...
 
No panic here last I saw. You'll know when there is (I swear they had it wrong in Fallout, we won't be trading in bottlecaps when the apocalypse comes, we'll be trading in LOO ROLL).

Still, I just panic bought myself a big fuckoff 4K telly so that I have something decent to look at during lockdown 2.0, and later I shall panic buy some booze and chocolate and enjoy the weekend before going back to the probably covid riddled office on Monday.
 
They are obviously worried about the economy but I think a short, sharp lockdown would have less of an impact than stalling and then needing a longer lockdown.

As a primary carer for someone, you are still allowed to go to the houses of people you are caring for to provide care and support. This was the case during the previous lockdown.

Oh, ok. I’m not OFFICIALLY so, though, if that makes a difference. It’s all rather new. And also I wouldn’t want to put them at any risk at all, which would weigh on my mind a lot.

I used to work for a carers charity. There isn’t really an official way to show that you are someone’s carer unless you get Carers Allowance and many don’t. If you are worried, I would get in touch with a local carers service to see what they suggest.
 
After two failed international holidays in May and July, I finally convinced Mrs. Indie to a UK cottage holiday in October.

If everything gets shut down then, I may very well go fucking insane.

I’ve booked something in October too made sure there was a kitchen ! If it’s a cottage at least you have a change of scenery surely that will still be allowed

Buy a campervan. You can go on holiday whenever and wherever then.
 
We went on a 10 mile away holiday last weekend. It was great.

It's slowly creaking open - as of Sept 1st foreign residents could re-enter finally. I wonder if Asian tourists will be next, especially Chinese.
 
Dublin just confirmed to a Level 3 status - restaurants limited to outdoor dining only with takeaways and deliveries allowed, max of 25 at weddings or funerals, you can people from one other household visit your home or garden. Look like it's in place for the next three weeks.
 
Seems like we're going to get stricter social distancing measures rather than a lockdown in England. Can't wait to have to leave a 6m gap between me and other people.
 
I accidentally brushed the hand of the girl in sainsburys earlier and felt instantly guilty for having physical contact with a stranger. Fucking JOKE.

I mean obviously they will follow in time. Incubation to death lag is quite long.

I do agree that they're likely to stay lower than the first wave though. Mostly because the number of people actually infected last time was possibly many many times greater than reported.
 
Boris having spelled out in no uncertain terms that a second wave is "coming" (because I guess he's a time traveller from about 2 weeks ago?) seems to me to be preparing people mentally for the lockdown that he totally doesn't want to do.
