FWIW my hayfever has gone MENTAL the past couple of days. So if anyone potentially has that, keep it in mind. I was snotting all over yesterday - not that snotting is a covid symptom but coughing is and that happens with severe hayfever as well

I mean if I’ve already got it then it’s only a few more days! (I think)

my friend caught it off her flat mate, and have both been asymptomatic, so I’m hoping I already have it and am also symptom-less :disco:
 
The latest piece of genius is the £10,000 fine for not self-isolating. It has been pointed out that this will make it tricky to get tested. Shower of absolute fucking buffoons.

The nose one was HORRIFIC. You literally have tears streaming down your face the second you jab it up. I had to do the throat one in two five second instalments so I wasn’t SICK.
 
Just in case anyone is taking this suggestion seriously I think it’s completely wrong to start censoring a politician’s name. Tbh I thought censoring the DM was also a step too far though could vaguely get behind the reasoning that we didn’t want to add to their ad revenue.

The nose one looks HORRIFYING coz it looks like it’s about to go through your BRAIN. But apparently it’s more uncomfortable than actually painful?

It's more that it sets you off. I was coughing and sneezing and leaking the moment I stuck up it up, and then you have to rotate it for 10 (15?) more seconds.

Yeah the nose swab isn't painful, it just massively triggers your "this does not belong up here" instinct. Don't know how to describe it, I'd say similar to if you're absolutely DYING to sneeze. Instant tears, not out of pain, just eye watering, maybe a little bit like shoving chopped onions up your nose. I had absolutely no chance of holding it up there for 10 seconds, I managed about 1 second at a time!
 
Is anyone else pausing a bit before making plans at the moment? I want to see friends but I feel like I'll be more disappointed if I have to cancel plans. But also don't want to put everything on hold
 
I’m supposed to be going for a weekend away in a couple of weeks with two other couples, no idea if it’s going to be possible but other than that I’ve not made plans for months
 
I've taken full advantage of the relaxation in rules as far as getting around goes, wisely or unwisely, so can't be too down about it, but I am a bit frustrated in that I want to move away from Belfast soon but it'll inevitably be hard to settle anywhere else and be comfortable there for the time being.
 
I'm planing to see a friend in Lyon and evening toying with the idea of a last minute trip to MOROCCO in October. I don’t care if nothing of the above actually happens, I need to think I have that possibility for my own sanity.
 
I can’t not be able to see my parents. My brother had a stroke last week and I honestly don’t know how my mum will cope if I can’t see her.

Oh GOD. Does Ms Ron have any symptoms? Can she be tested now or does she have to wait? Fingers crossed she hasn’t contracted it.x
 
According to the BBC, the scientists will give a "stark warning" today. Presumably they won't announce any actual plans, as that's government policy and not their place to do so (or want to do so)

I moved to Manchester in February and went into lockdown 5/6 weeks later. It’s been incredibly hard to feel settled or find any kind of ‘friendship network’ to be able to get out and socialise.

Even when you can’t do the ‘normal’ things, it’s stuff like having someone to go for a walk with or just talk to that I really miss, having moved from a place where I had quite a lot of friends around me and different networks like my theatre groups.

So yeah, you’re right be be cautious about any move and Not underestimate the difficulty in settling but I guess as long as you’re aware of that it shouldn’t stop you if you’re keen to make a move.

Nope we're all fine. Seeing as he's now 7 days in, any infection would have been in the run up to that. I'm fairly certain we had it in March.

Funnily enough no one in their company has been contacted by track and trace. World beating!
 
Anyway, this is an interesting article, and expresses some of my questions a little more thoroughly, namely why aren't we focusing on deaths and hospital admissions as a measure/metric? Surely they are more relevant?
