Twenty eight pounds for the audio book?! :D

OMG maybe she'll get a Grammy out of it.

Just bought the hardcover from Amazon through the Moopy link. How much do we get from book sales at the moment?

Ok checking out of this thread so I can be as unspoiled as possible. Better than imposing a spoiler tag regime. Will miss you all

I was sceptical about how in depth she was going to be on certain issues and how much transparency she was gonna give. But she is giving the give. BATHIN IN WINDEX if you will :disco:

5 days! :emoji_butterfly:

I’m almost tempted by this, given that it’s only a TENNER on Amazon, although admittedly I’m only here for tales of despair, imprisonment and nervous breakdowns triggered by running out of Sauvignon and Froot Loops, and NOT boring chat about studio techniques and trivialities like her music :tongueout:

Also I could always burn the horrible cover and replace it with one of my beautiful crayon drawings :disco:

I'm going to read this over the weekend. It will certainly help me get through this week going on turning JLo into a blind item alone.

The Oprah interview wasn't particularly great for me. I'd swear Oprah spoke twice as much as Mariah. I suspect they didn't want to reveal too much of what's in the book though, and I'm still definitely perched to read it!

I thought it was lovely. She was more open than she's ever been, and her guard was as down as it can be. She still doesn't believe she deserves both success and happiness. Which explains so much of her insecurity, neuroses, inability to just relax and embrace the imperfections of her voice and body.

Listening to Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme) and realising how much of Rainbow was a trauma response. Such an underrated masterpiece.

All true! I did enjoy the interview. It has really whet my appetite for the tome!

I can't stop listening to her back cat. So many 16/10 moments. Not everyone has that.

Obviously boy, you qualify
Otherwise...

BYE!

Yep, I’ve been bingeing on Mimi for the past month. Even later albums that I had semi-dismissed at the time, sounded so good. She truly is one of the greats!

I did just play Rainbow and, to be honest, it’s just a bit GLOOPY for me, which is how I felt at the time. Calculated, saccharine moments like Thank God I Found You are just too much.

I mean, it's time we fully reclaimed Rainbow. It is wall-to-wall bops. I know @RaspberrySwirl will shake and cry with me over it.

It's not cool like Butterfly or Caution, and it's not a well-rounded body of work like Emancipation, Emotions or Daydream, but it's just a whole lot of fun (rather like E=MC in that respect).

Yep I’ve always had a soft spot for Rainbow. Ok there was no ARTISTIC GROWTH, but it is indeed a bopfest and it also contains PETALS. :disco:

It’s OK...I was still very much on board as a big fan at that point, but it was the point I began to waiver. Some great stuff but, as I said, some GLOOP. I remember not hammering it at the time unlike the albums that preceded it.

Petals is really the prologue to The Meaning of Mariah

Cause I miss you Valentine
And really loved you
(I used to love you)

Funnily enough, you can tell from what she said to Oprah that she did feel something very special for Tommy. Much more so than for Nick, it seems.
