Ava Max - Heaven & Hell (The MIDWEEK CHART TOPPING ALBUM)

some incredible performances - Naked on the piano is a vocal revelation :o she can SAAANG!

that Naked perf :D Is she a fan of Gaga? I've never doubted the fact she can sing, I've seen some old performances, it's just the aesthetics she serves are ridiculous sometimes.

Does anyone else think L. Gaga split in 2009 and this is what’s left of Famega? Maybe should put this in the conspiracy forum.

I've been enjoying all the singles since 2018 but didn't even realise there was an album until today :D

That said, I'm IN

oh Chrissy, doll, you'll love it. stream and help the good sis Amanda get that UK number one!

my current jam of choice is Rumours - the "who's gonna love you if it ain't me, baby?" hook is IMMENSE! :disco: the whole song glitters and glides like nobody's business.

international artists getting a UK #1 with their debut is actually quite rare - I saw the full list from this century somewhere, it just happens once or twice a year.

@Jark oh just rate it already so I can do so too!
I think I did on the previous page beb! but to be honest I'm hammering this album and every score has improved so LOON RATE INCOMING!

07 Heaven
08 Kings & Queens
09 Naked
08 Tattoo
10 OMG What's Happening
08 Call Me Tonight (a-yoooo!)
10 Born to the Night
10 Torn
08 Take You to Hell
10 Who's Laughing Now
07 Belladonna
10 Rumours
05 So Am I
09 Salt
09 Sweet But Psycho

a (considerably) stronger and more entertaining debut than The Fame, and that's the tea on that. :emoji_coffee:

Call Me Tonight is a Tove Lo co-write and I think you can hear her at the end of the chorus. I reckon OMG will be another slow-burn hit for her, it's just so catchy.

oh no! her lead has slipped to 300 copies :o looks like she might be pipped to the post by Pop Smoke (who?!) tomorrow

06 Heaven
08 Kings & Queens
11 Naked (I mean it's an 11/10 in the context of the album, not in Real Life)
07 Tattoo
06 OMG What's Happening
07 Call Me Tonight
09 Born to the Night
09 Torn
06 Take You to Hell
06 Who's Laughing Now
07 Belladonna
08 Rumours
03 So Am I
10 Salt
09 Sweet But Psycho

It's still already way outperformed my expectations. She never struck me as somebody who would shift albums, despite her singles success.

I think I'd prefer to see the actual sales figure before throwing the phrase 'shift albums' around.

it was 1300 behind in the end! wtf happened on Thursday :D

:D bitchy

it still did REALLY WELL. I'm a little Maxcut and i ain't SORRY

I know it doesn’t REALLY mean anything, but on pure sales Ava landed at #3 and Pop Smoke was at #72 :D

NOT Ms. Koci finally snatching herself another US hit :o

I see Who's Laughing Now finally charted in the UK at #93 this week.

Based on her usual trajectory, I fully expect it to peak at #12 next July.

Well this has turned out to be small TRIUMPH. So Am I really killed my interest but what a turnaround :disco:

-- Heaven
08 Kings & Queens
08 Naked (nice to see Bonnie still getting work)
10 Tattoo (SINGLE PLZ)
09 OMG What's Happening
07 Call Me Tonight
10 Born to the Night :disco:
09 Torn
07 Take You to Hell
08 Who's Laughing Now
05 Belladonna
07 Rumours
05 So Am I
08 Salt (lost some of it's shine being 2 years old)
10 Sweet But Psycho (see above but still an undeniable modern pop gay classic)

down to 13 in yesterday's mids, which is not the disaster drop I expected

Is that good?

I'm not going to rate this yet but this album is a DREAM. That run from OMG to Rumours is relentless quality pop. She's tapped into a dead market and at least raised a finger out of the grave if nothing else but with FULL THROTTLE dedication to her chosen subject. From a current perspective, I relate it to the Welsh entry from Buttertart's Song For Moopy competition. It's splendid. If we were younger, we'd be creaming over this in a way we once did over Rachel Stevens' second creation.

However is this really released on multiple cassette formats but not vinyl? For fuck's sake :D
