Interesting that it’s Alexis Petridis and not just some gay doing it for free (sorry VoR).

Interesting but that number one is a seemingly too obvious choice in a list that is actually quite leftfield, but then always was going to be.

I will still never understand anyone who thinks What Do I Have To Do sits outside the top ten, but glad to see it recognised nonetheless, but 2 Hearts that high? EASE UP!

I rather like reading a different take and perspective on things and we could of course argue the toss for any ranking to the high heavens, no matter who did it :D

Do I need to reassess I Was Gonna Cancel and Better Than Today though? Instinct tells me I really don't.
 
I love that the last sentence in regards to the number 1 is "a single only the terminally joyless could fail to enjoy" when as far as I'm aware most fans/gays kind of HATE IT!

The number 1 is SPINNING AROUND!
 
I don’t hate the number one, and at the time it TOTALLY served its purpose, but the follow up was when I really got back on board and realised it was more than a novelty, which said number one (oh fuck it, this is a discussion thread) / Spinning Around felt a bit like at the time.
 
I like I Was Gonna Cancel but it shouldn’t be near this list. Better Than Today is great, I’ve never understood the hatred, but again, I don’t necessarily feel it would make my top 30...
 
I've always found SA to be rather nifty and completely serviceable if a tad perfunctory. My appreciation grew when I heard a bootleg I'm sure she did and it boosted its charge immeasurably. It wouldn't be in my top 20 though that's for sure.

To be fair I personally HATE Spinning Around, I think it's a load of cheap shit DESPITE what it did for her career - so my bias is CLEARLY shining through in this discussion :D I would have expected Slow to be The Guardians number 1 Kylie pick tbh

In other news, it was nice to see the Fischerspooner remix of CIMW get a shout out :disco:
 
But Alexis Petridis hates Kylie (he has pretty much admitted it in the past). Where is Laura Snapes when you need her?
 
I think it’s a good list to be fair. The problem for me doing a Kylie list is that I’ve heard some of the iconic hits so many times I could happily not hear them again and so they wouldn’t feature on my list even though I adore(d) them.

That's always the case with me. I generally don't dislike an artist's biggies but also never play them, so don't include them in my rankings :D
 
I don’t hate the #1, but I literally never actively seek to listen to it. Even at the time I thought it was such a nothing track. It’s a Paula Abdul cast-off for feck sake! If it wasn’t for those gold hotpants, I’m confident it wouldn’t have been such a big hit.
