Well the nominations are in and now is the time for you all to have your say :o

You are voting for posters to fill the ADMINISTRATOR role on Moopy.

A reminder of what this involves;
An ADMINISTRATOR is broadly the gatekeeper to Moopy, who holds the keys. Amongst other things, they can:
  • Turn Moopy on/off
  • Install forum upgrades
  • Talk to the server hosts, fix issues like downtime
  • Change the structure of the forums, colour schemes, add new forums, change banners
  • Access the backing database and root forum code
  • Dealing with issues to do with posters
  • +all the stuff a moderator can do
Anyone can be administrator. Technical knowledge is useful, but not essential. There's plenty you can do without knowing your html from your elbow-tml.

Your voting is two fold. You are voting for WHO you want to be admin, but by doing this you will be helping to decide HOW MANY admin (max 3). There are currently two admin: Indie and Octophone.

So this is how it will work;

You will be able to vote for UP TO THREE admin. However in order to be elected the candidate must receive at least 50% confidence. So for example;
10 people vote and the votes are as follows
8 for Kylie
7 For Dannii
4 for Brendan
1 for Trump
Kylie and Dannii would be elected as they fulfil both criteria.

If the votes were;
8 for Kylie
7 for Dannii
5 for Brendan
1 for Trump
Kylie, Dannii and Brendan would be elected

If you wish to only vote for 1 or 2 admin, you may do so.

VOTE INDIE 2020

There's not a massive lot i can say here that you don't know already. So i'll just do some bullet points:

  • You've maybe heard that i'm admin already. I am. I've been an admin here for probably nearly a decade, moderator since the start of Moopy and stretching back all the way to dotmusic days. I'm certainly relably here. I've been in the POTW chart for like 4 years straight. Beat that if you can.
  • Obviously, i'm a bit of a minority here as one of the 'straight' ones. But don't let that put you off. I'll still wade through threads of Vespertine's cumshots or Kylie's new record (about spunk) to come to a fair judgement on matters.
  • Uptime of the forum really matters. Thankfully i've not had to do it for a little while (there was an overnight back in March, but other than that) - i've spent good chunks of time trying my damnedest to keep Moopy online when it looked like we'd be down forever.
  • Community! The community is important here. The role of admin (and moderator) in my eyes is not to be your fucking mum. It's perhaps sometimes to facilitate, but it's generally not to make decisions on your behalf. But where some matters do need a little bit of authority, such as something which might have legal ramifications or actual private matters of a poster, i've no problem with stepping in and doing something. But on the whole we are community, and the admin isn't the same as it is on some forums.
  • Unbiased - Well, nobody is perfect. But i do try to be fair and impartial in anything.
  • No doubt, i'm still getting stuff done and not resting on my laurels in the role. Giving up my own time to spend days looking at code (e.g. tag-gate) cleaning up the emoji tabs or getting the new emojis (coincidence on timing, but y'know, whatever). Of course i'm not going to be tinkering with the forum in all my spare time (i know, right) but I do put an awful lot into this place. And i'm not just talking of my bankrolling of the place (I put in £5 a month, lolz)
  • Technically proficient. Alright, i'm not *that* well versed in HTML and the specific language, but i do know other programming languages so i can piece stuff together. I've got us this far.
That was a bit of a wine-induced ramble, but whatever. VOTE FOR ME

VOTE INDIE 2020 (and you might as well vote for me as well while you're at it)

I feel like I've learned a lot since being voted in as admin on what was essentially a confidence vote last year. It's been UPHILL but here we are.

What I lack in technical knowledge and, indeed, basic mental stability, I make up for in other ways. I am active and fulfil a lot of your requests for thread merges and splits. I'm fair and have the trust of most of Moopy. I was hoping to stand on the platform of having added :tisch: to the Moopy lexicon but Indie has fucked that sideways with a jet propellor by adding a couple of hundred smilies this week.

As much as a few decisions have been met with concern, it comes with the job: called to make a 50/50 decision, I made a decision rather than faff, prevaricate or otherwise dither. Like it or otherwise, an admin needs to be able to do that.

So essentially - vote for me; Indie is much better but I already have the keys, no-one else really seems to want it and I'm not a Tory.

Having started off as a Moderator and then an Administrator for a number of years alongside Indie & Star, I feel like I have the required experience and technical knowledge to provide Moopy with assurance and confidence moving forward.

I helped navigate Moopy through its toughest periods, working night and day with the other admins to pull the forum back from the brink and keep it afloat.

I chose to stand down as Administrator a few years ago, but since then I have developed my skills further, working with HTML, JavaScript and a little bit of CSS day-to-day, and also working with Xenforo (the forum’s software) and PHP (the programmatic language that powers the forum).

I’m comfortable working with the existing admin control panel and also the site’s wider control panel, and I’m comfortable discussing issues/performance with our hosts, as and when required.

There will undoubtedly be other members who stand that are more visible than I am, but I am here a lot, and I believe I can fit back in to the team with ease, helping Moopy to thrive in the years ahead.

I’d really relish the opportunity to work on behalf of you all again, if you’d have me.

I can confirm.

  • Good with Tech, currently dab a little with HTML with the day job as well as other light programming.
  • Quick to learn new platforms. For the stuff I don't already know how to do, I'll be able to pick it up quickly.
  • Find both of the above genuinely fun
And on other stuff
  • Can make quick and reasoned decisions and will communicate them well, should I need to.
  • Thick skinned. If a decision proves controversial I won't take criticism too personally, though of course will take differing views and feedback on board and will not flounce or strop (publicly)
  • Should a public flounce or flop occur, I'll endeavour to make it entertaining at the very least. :emoji_upside_down:
 
Am I high or are Samuels and Suomis manifestos the same?

Oh I've said my bit. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, and will accept whatever everyone else decides. Christ knows I have more faith in moopy members than the general public.
