The Admin Elections 2020 Results Thread

I actually don’t want to just move on to the mod elections

I think what’s been raised in this thread should be taken seriously

Indeed. You try and do something that people asked for, that they were given a week to think about and even comment on, yet no one does. Then when the results don't go the way you want them to, people want to pick fault.

I'm not suprised in this current attack climate that people don't feel like posting.

As I said earlier, I've done what I said I would. I'm now finished and hand you all over to your admin, which incidentally I'm glad I'm not admin anymore because I can't deal with this constant attacking culture on here. You can't do right for wrong.

It’s like 3 people babes. And they’ll find something in the melody estefan forum to be angry about by morning. Now get back to your sherry

With greatest respect to all and very much sounding like a sore loser, it may have been a mistake to combine the third admin referendum in with a popular vote because precisely this situation is the worst outcome for it.

@Star please don’t think this is anything against you at all. You’re just the messenger! I was part of the team who agreed the rules, but I don’t think anyone expected this to happen, not in the slightest.

You did a brilliant job and thank you so much for organising it! x

I'm not trying to be provocative here, but can someone who wants to expand the admin team please explain why? What is currently not being covered?

Please don't include anything to do with general moderator duties. We've already committed to expanding the mod team.

I take great insult to that dinosaur comment.

I mean @lolly isn’t THAT OLD

Yes, but I AM. Here’s me earlier today

Cock not pictured as it would spoil the exciting game

Wait a minute, there is an attacking culture NOW? :D This place used to be like that. It stopped me from posting. But it is absolutely not like that now.

But I’m sorry if you feel I attacked you. I totally accept I should have voted, and I didn’t - so that is on me. Although it wouldn’t have made a difference to the 50% rule anyway. But rather than just dismiss some legitimate concerns perhaps try to address them and meet people in the middle?

Well that’s what an election is sadly, it’s a popular vote.

I think you did really well to get those votes considering you’ve only been here a few months! That says something. not many others could have done that.

why are you angry? I mean for all your democratic outage your were happy to become a moderator based on NO election at all. This was a democratic process that had very clear rules beforehand

At least when I stood I took it seriously and didn’t take it as a piss take!

Please don't include anything to do with general moderator duties. We've already committed to expanding the mod team.

Why even entertain it? We had a working admin before, we’ve ended up with a working admin again. We did a quick sense check and everything is as it was. I don’t see the drama.

I stood specifically because @octophone, current admin and admin-elect, asked for people with more tech skills to come forward.

Since Octy said she lacks technical skills, wouldn't be good to have another admin to help with some delicate stuff if needed and not just rely on you, just in case? That was my reasoning. :vomit:

You are essentially a key man risk right now.

This thread is funny. It really is revealing to me the FUN crew and the ones who take it all a little bit too seriously.

@ZenGiraffe @Samuel and, for the sake of completion, @Suomi should definitely stand in the mod election. We have an exclusive forum that the plebs cherished electorate can't see and you're very much involved in decision making and day-to-day running. If you fancy having a go at the admin lark, I'm sure Indie will let you sit on his lap and have a go at pressing the buttons.

I think we've had slightly mixed messages. Octy posted that she wanted to know if anyone could bring tech prowess, as that would help the role, and then you said that wasn't needed, but only after Zen and Samuel threw their hats into the ring based on the call for tech support. I don't think it's ever been a case of calling into question your tech skills in any way at all, it just sounded to me personally like it would be great to have 2 techies and octy as admin (only based on octy's post, I have no idea how techy she actually is). It does sound like a lot of posters misunderstood what you guys were looking for, which is totally fine, but that's how we got here. I personally thought the 50% rule was a good idea at the time, but in hindsight it's led to a very odd result which has disenfranchised a large portion of voters who voted in favour of 3 admin. But hindsight is a wonderful thing and no-one could have foreseen this! So I do hope @Star doesn't see any of this as a slight on her because it isn't in any way - we're just venting our frustration as how the voting system ended up leding to a very odd result, with a high majority voting for there to be 3 admin but without that coming to fruition

Does there need to a hard and fast reason other than that it would just be a bit of extra help when needed? That was all. I hope the mod elections expands the numbers, just because the site is clearly busy at the moment.

Correct. Although she had been talking about potentially stepping aside rather than team expansion.

Octy has the keys too. Samuel has run the place before. There's contingency.

Unless I'm going to get hit by a bus in a world where I don't even go to the office, that's not a new point.

octy has the keys but has already said she doesn’t have the tech capabilities?

And lol at Samuel being the contingency, when we’ve just said he can’t be an official admin because that’s written in the rules.

If we find that two admins are not enough we can go back and do another vote.

Not arguing with the result, but that's like saying no-one is allowed to vent about Brexit

Yes this has the exact same gravity.

Also only 44 posters voted out of I would say 75(?) active posters so there’s a good number who just don’t care.

If you think Octy has no tech skills, you should see mine :D Yet I managed for years as admin, having bought this site back MANY times from various technical faults (the dinosaurs can confirm this) as I was supported and helped by the Moopy Family.
