Following an outbreak of threads this morning and having taken expert advice, we have today taken steps to ensure that the Mriahvirus does not spread within the Moopy community.

Whilst there is always a small mild strain during December, this outbreak is the most virulent we have seen and represents a very real danger to us all.

From today, all Mariah Carey threads must be contained within the Divas forum. Whilst we acknowledge that this is not necessarily the most appropriate location, it is where the current spread is at its most extreme and its most worrying.

Anyone who posts within a Mariah Carey thread must self-isolate within the Divas forum for 14 days to reduce the risk of infection.

These restrictions will be under constant review and we will make further announcements as and when they are required.

I’m too busy enjoying Mariah’s book to get too worked up but this is someone seeing people being excited about something that doesn’t involve them and transparently deciding to attempt to squash it. It’s unfortunate but I wish her well.

Just to confirm this was not discussed in the Mod forum and cannot be recognised as an official Moopy policy.

Solidarity with the Moopy lamb community. Remember, a vote for VoR is a vote for protecting your minority interests. :emoji_pray:
Appreciate the support, but Mariah is not a minority interest Queen

I'm not voting for any mod that doesn't stand for Mariah, you've been warned. x

I fully expect every poster standing as a potential mod to make their position on this issue known in their manifesto.

I want it to be clear where the threads were originally posted in the first place.

But I don’t agree with changing the daily thread title, seems a bit OTT.

Hang on, was it just the daily thread title that caused all this? :D

I stand with @Soldi and @VoR here - I'm a bit confused, was it just having a Mariah daily thread title that caused uproar for being outside the Mariah forum?
Yes. Like many daily thread titles, I started one today referring to a recent happening on Moopy. It included the word Mariah which octophone censored and posted about to get some likes . Then - after a couple of retaliatory snarky election-based edits I made which are frankly beneath me - I changed it to “Tuesday rises above it (BUY THE BOOK)”. Again this was edited. Zero mention of Mariah clearly.

It was only the daily thread I noticed. But I've not been around most of the morning.

This isn’t anything to do with Mariah but more around the fact there could be duplicate conversations going on in the multiple threads which could be difficult to follow. As a mod team we try to streamline things to ensure this doesn’t happen. We have never has separate threads for each section of book in Book Club before. I’d say the same if this was ‘Who Put The Sin In Sinitta’.

Floppet outs herself as Mariah hater SHOCKER
Floppet (one of the nicest people here, mind you) doesn't even want to be a mod, does she? Other people trying to push her in for some obscure reasons is quite something.

Oh in which case some people need to GET A GRIP I feel. This is a space we all share and big topics are always going to spill out onto other forums. And it’s only a thread title! :D

We always try to cajole people we think would be good into doing it.

I love Floppet but why are some people pushing for her to be a mod? She says herself she posts in the Daily Thread and not much else, and she’s not interested in it. Let people decide for themselves if they want to be on the team.

I'm personally not planning on reading it, but I think this book is a bit more than a standard book club book where no-one would want to have a separate thread for each chapter. This is the life and times of one of the big divas split across different eras and appeals to a large chunk of posters, I think - if it had been 22 chapters, on the other hand, I may have objected :D

Someone changed it to Tuesday Rises Above It, removing the bit about the book, and then I changed it to Tuesday because I was sick of the constant changing and it seemed simpler just to remove everything. But then it got changed again. Can we just leave it now, as it’s getting annoying.

As I explained, this was to allow those who are interested in talking about the distinct sections of the book to talk about it without fear of being spoiled for other sections. It had a very practical purpose.

We have threads in double figures for every season of Drag Race but this is suddenly a problem?

Is there an option to allow people to not be able to view certain threads? If people are THAT pent-up about a couple of Mariah book threads then can they not asked to be banned from viewing them?

I mean I’m not ever going to read it, but I just SCROLL PAST.

Oh of course it was you! :goodgrief:
