I think I randomly did sober September last year, after a very heavy summer. I didn't really feel any better or worse after it but it did make me drink less in October and November just because I got a bit more used to having soft drinks. Didn't last beyond that though
 
Seriously, fuck being sober for a month. Either drink or don't, just get on with it.

I thought Sober October was created for the self-righteous among us. It can do one quite frankly.
 
I thought "Stoptober" was smoking and then someone came up with "Sober October" but it didn't take because "Dry January" was bigger but now "Veganuary" is quite big.

Andy Zaltzman's suggestion was rather ace: GRAPRIL ( as in "grape-ril") - you drink wine every day for the whole month.
 
I have to have the final part of my root canal done next week. I'm scared :(
 
Last year I had a wisdom tooth extraction where they had to remove part of my jaw bone because they couldn't get to the tooth, followed by a root canal. That wasn't a good day for Iguana

Ooh interesting. How long were you in there for? I've had the nerve removed and a temp filling in it which was done when I was on holiday in March. That bit was all ok.

I don’t really have that much sense of it here, I used to work in a building where the only window I saw was in my classroom, about half a metre from the next building, so I couldn’t see if it was sunset or not!

it was getting near sunset around 5.30 today
 
I've had root canal done a couple of times and found that the impact on the wallet is a lot more painful than the process itself.

It's only costing me £22 luckily. Perks of being friends with the dentist. But I'm pleased to hear it doesn't sound too awful.
 
:o One of my best friends in secondary school spent ages thinking he wanted to become a dentist. Eventually he went on to become a primary school teacher. How I now wish he never had that change of heart :angry:

Dentists are paid so well. My dentist friend is on £80k and her husband (also a dentist) is on even more. And that's on the island where pay is usually low.
 
My lunch has been blocked out today for 60mins rather than 30. Sssssh don't tell anyone :o
