Relisten #2: Rhythm of Love & Let’s Get To It - 19/10/20 19:30 (1 Viewer)

I think I need to get in on this one to be honest! Let's Get to It was actually the first Kylie album I ever bought! :D :disco:

Let's Get To It was the last Kylie album I bought on cassette. I had a CD player by that time, but I think as I owned all the previous ones on cassette, I wanted consistency. By the time Greatest Hits was released less than a year later I'd given up on such qualms, though.

I always remember it was released the same day as Erasure's Chorus, which I did buy on CD at the same time, from Woolworths.

Thanks for the bump, I’d forgotten this was tonight :D

my memories not the same these days :(

Anyone who bought this the first time around needs to get in on the action though

Get ready for Kylie’s take on NEW JACK SWING on Let’s Get To It

:zombie:

I hadn't realised LGTI features Word Is Out, one of my favourite Kylie singles from this era :disco:
Honestly she gained the 11 year old me as a fan with 'Word is Out'. I was, of course, a precocious child (:eyes: ) in many ways and SLUTTY KYLIE ticked the boxes for me. The ROL era for some reason completely passed me by and yes I know it's sacrilege to admit that on Moopy but hey ho...

Too Much Of A Good Thing would be a great song were it for the fact that you could actually HEAR Kylie.

Anyway more about this later.

WTF am I, chopped liver????

Oops! To be fair it’s not my sync. I’m just doing the legwork because @SDF can’t be arsed.

Of course on WEDNESDAY moopy and its DOG will be more than welcome!

Honestly I was obsessed with the 'Word is Out' video at the time - I know she was slammed at the time for the sluttiness being fake or whatever but we all know that's misogynistic heteronormative press trying to keep a strong sister down.

When was it a thing we had to get our own “invitation” along to a sync listen, everyone can see the thread and surely knows the drill by now?

anyway @Eddie is the promo, so lovers blame him if it goes tits up x

There are some CHOICE production decisions on Let’s Get To It. Mike Stock (in the absence of Matt Aitken) inferred that it was the most excruciating time he had ever spent in a studio.

Thankfully now that we know he is a GRADE A CUNT, Kylie OBVIOUSLY wasn’t the one to blame.

I'm surprised Word Is Out bombed SO hard, really. It's perfectly fine, and she obviously rebounded enough with the subsequent singles to suggest the tank wasn't totally empty.

And really, who wears AFTERSHAVES??
No one does but we all know what people refer to when they say AFTERSHAVE. It's just one of those things. The flipside is you walk into the gay bar and tell your potential new lover that his SCENT really turns you on and is it a limited edition Hermes. Let's see how that works out.

She looked so miserable promoting it. That might have been part of the problem.

I do think the video is quite ill-judged. She just doesn't look comfortable in it.

Bonus round after Let's Get to It surely will have to be dedicated to 'What Kind of Fool' video + iconic couldn't give a shit TOTP performance :disco:

I suppose it helps to temper expectations after the magnificence of ROL.

I wonder if the emergence of Dannii as a chart force had harmed her much?

The Accurist advert had a lot to do with the success of GMJALMT.

Anyway Finer Feelings is the one true take away from the album.

I think the main thing is just that the public were pretty much sick of SAW by this point, weren't they? I seem to recall Kylie was pretty much the only one bringing in hits for them by now, wasn't she?
