Shocked is one of the best dance-pop songs of the 90s, one of the best Kylie Minogue songs of all time and my personal favourite from this record.

From those opening video game soundtrack chords, through the slow intro of the individual percussion elements and the synthlines, the sheer breathing room before you even hear her vocal, and finally the sharp cut off of her vocal stylings (SURROUNDED! BY FEELINGS!) it's an absolute master class in BUILD and RELEASE.

Such a giddily euphoric piece of music and arguably the first moment at which her penchant for boppy dance pop began to transition into a kind of defined artistry.

Full 5 minute edit EVERY TIME as well btw.
