Relisten #3: Kylie Minogue & Impossible Princess - 21/10/20 19:00

I just prematurely started Confide in Me. Guess I’ll go listen to some Lana for thirty more minutes then :eyes:

@Eddie Do we have a Spotify link?

Which track are we stopping on as the version on Spotify is an extended version?

should we do Time Will Pass You By as the regular closer and Nothing Can Stop Us as a bonus for a round hour and then straight into IP? @Eddie

Just got here guys. I can only pull up the standard album on Spotify. Can someone do a YouTube thingy?

Oh crap, that’s the deluxe. Let

It’ll have to be Time Will Pass You By (even though I’d rather it was Falling (more shade later).

What's left to be said about Confide?

I honestly think without it she'd wouldn't have had the career she did.

Those romantic opening bars of Confide, that slight hint of the orient, before it drops out into those cold strings :disco: I'm 45 seconds in and it's ALL SO DELICIOUS ALREADY. So excited for this.

Confide In Me was absolutely a curveball at the time. In fact this whole album campaign was such a cool time to be a Kylie fan after the years of derision.

Confide was a considerably bigger European/UK/Aus hit than anything from Let's Get To It right? Was there any sense of OMG Kylie's back! at the time? Did it feel like it had been a three year gap or was she still visible in that time?

From tinny SAW to proper layered production was quite a statement of intent, even if it didn't always work out perfectly.

Strange how no one mentions the SITAR these days. It absolutely contains SITAR.

It felt like a reinvention.

Absolutely. I recall radio DJs WTFing left right and centre.

has @SDF pissed off already? what were you saying 30 minutes ago bebs? :eyes:

09 Confide In Me

For me just a 9 because various iterations of the song since have surpassed the album version, and on such a warm album it feels a bit odd one out. Classic though.

Also she was on the cover of ALL the cool mags at the time. (the Face, I-D, Dazed and Confused) She was 26. It felt like she had the world at her feet.
