Doesn’t matter. The themes are so broad that the likelihood of a significant overlap are very low. One or two songs is fine it’s the rest that will decide the winner. Same as Fantasy Footy really...

RIGHT, SO:

I’ll try and keep this as simple as possible while being as clear as possible. Hope for the best...

  • The brackets have been drawn for round one but they won’t be revealed until the scores reveal at the end of the round, to keep anonymity and protect the validity of the scoring. Simple tournament rules so 16 contestants, 8 matches of one on one, 8 winners go into the quarter finals.
  • Shortly all the contestants will be sent through their chosen playlist theme. I’ll set out the instructions again, but you are to choose ten songs to create your playlist, submitted in private to me
  • I will then post the playlists in threads for moopers to rate them. Ten songs out of ten for a maximum of 100 points. Based on the brackets, the playlist with the most points in your match goes into the quarter finals.
  • Contestants are basically whoring for points. There are no rules about how Moopers give out their tens and zeros, but you need to know your audience - I would lean with points for personal taste and creative choice. Obscurity won’t help - ?? Gets you no points.
  • I will then add up the points in the background and do a Round One results reveal once the rate closes.
Right so here is the messy bit. I’m trying to retain anonymity to keep the scores fair. Because the first round is quite hefty, I will be splitting the rates into 4 threads of 4. Basically - contestants CAN and SHOULD rate, but you CANNOT rate in the thread that contains your playlist. So you can basically vote for 12 of the 16 round one playlists. If this doesn’t make sense DON’T WORRY I can explain in a PM or in the rate threads.

I will explain everything in stages but just wanted to lay it out for those wondering

just a bit unfortunate that the first round is the biggest and so most complicated round. After round one everyone should know what’s what.

Confused by this bit beb - isn't the point that voters actually listen to the playlists? It shouldn't just be name recognition right? Like, if we had three great, more obscure songs they should be able to score well because people are actually listening as they rate? Or have I got it ALL WRONG

Presumably listening to 160 songs is a task few would be up for.

but if people are not actually listening it's not a playlist contest is it? it's just a rate. I would imagine they'll be posted over several nights so it won't be 160 songs in one go?
 
I think what funky is saying is that if somebody picked for example HOLLY VALANCE KISS KISS it wouldn’t be marked down because it is TOO memorable ?
 
I had assumed that funky was going to make Spotify playlists for us or something but PERHAPS NOT
 
Ms Jark trying to force us to listen to new things when old queens just want Mariah and Kylie on repeat. Vote her out.

No I'm saving playlists for semi finals and finals. It's too much bloody work.

Early rounds you're just rating the way you would a Madonna rate or a dance anthems rate.
 
UPDATE:

Contestants have been sent their themes

They have until Thursday to send their playlists to me - JUST A LIST OF TEN SONGS FOR NOW. More sophisticated playlists for later rounds, bear with.

Round one rates will go up this weekend!
