Kylie - Disco (album 15)

I generally don't like Kylie's interviews. Those pauses and sentences that stop halfway through and the struggle she seems to feel to make herself understood are a bit frustrating for me personally.
I love her, but she's not the most eloquent person on earth.

She has been more eloquent at times in the past but she has become so guarded now to the extent that she appears to constantly thinking 2 steps ahead all the time and it makes for the most frustrating of interviews.

I don’t collect anything in the traditional sense (I’ve even stopped buying books). It’s all landfill in my eyes.

Is that what you do? I genuinely wouldn’t consider it for anyone else (though I caved in and bought the super deluxe edition of Sign O’ The Times recently on CD).

They had it up briefly on Prime Day I think but apparently it was swiftly removed since it was meant to be a Black Friday exclusive. Or something like that.

I very occasionally buy vinyls, mostly because I don't have a player yet (will fix that after Christmas though, and then I'll build a collection). Haven't bought CDs in a good 10 years - it's such a stupid waste of plastic. To support my faves this year I've been buying tickets to their livestreams, usually it's gig tickets. That's where they make their money anyway.
 
The quality of the sound doesn't negate the environmental impact of the plastic production!
 
Not to mention the fact that vinyl is more likely to warp than a CD and need replacing sooner.
 
But I don’t know why I am championing the CD. I don’t even buy them any more.

I’m scared my music consumption is going to go the way of all ageing people.
 
I think it can be argued that the warmth that vinyl brings to the medium is one of the reasons it is (increasingly) popular but I would also debate whether pop is the genre that would actually benefit from the format. I would say it was best suited to classical or jazz music if anything else.
 
I'm just going to play the Say Something INFITINITE DISCO performance instead whenever I'm tempted by le leak.
 
The enjoyment of taking part in THE FIRST LISTEN PARTY is reward enough!
 
I will listen to Real Groove if/when the album leaks but otherwise I'll keep my hole sealed good 'n tight for you 'til Friday @Edwina
 
Oh I will probably listen to Real Groove too since it is likely the next single anyway.
 
By the way, on the subject of Kylie's interviews...is anyone really a fan of Kylie because she's a very interesting person with lots of forthright opinions? Surely not. And I don't mean that as shade at all. She's just a classy, professional kind of interviewee. She gives just enough away, without ever resorting to overly personal revelations or gimmicks. I admire her for that, and I suspect it has helped her to remain sane throughout decades of fame. She remains somewhat of an enigma, and that's a good thing in my book.

Agreed. In many ways she’s the last of her kind by maintaining her mystique.

Social media has ruined too many popstars - like COVID it’s the great equaliser.

We had that blip in the early days of Twitter with the frenzied WOOoooOOOOp #ShoeOfTheDay but thankfully her account was wrestled off of her.
 
Nowt to do with having opinions - quite frankly I could do without another pop star waxing lyrical about matters on which they are no authority BUT she could at least talk a bit more passionately about the music without constantly resorting to the tried and tested anecdotes.
 
Also WHAT musical platform is @Eddie suggesting that we listen to Disco on?

I’d hate to be tres déclassé and listen on my ALBA GHETTO BLASTER.

That's the one thing that I want to hear artists talk about when listening to their interviews. I want to know things about the creative process of making their music. Their personal life rarely interests me. I got some bits and pieces about that during this Kylie interview, but the way she takes SOOOOO LONG to form a complete sentence irritates me.
 
I remember when we went to the taping of the Graham Norton Show and she literally spoke about the Kylie Jenner legal battle including every single technicality for literally 30 minutes (it got edited out the main show surprisingly).

Maybe it’s best she just sings!

I do think there's quite a high chance that away from being a popstar Kylie Ann is just a really boring individual :D

I don't think she'd be any intellectual's DREAM DINNER PARTY GUEST, put it that way.

I think she started guarding herself more and more and, in the effort of controlling every little word that comes out of her mouth, she lost her spontaneity when talking on camera.
