"The mood at the White House today has been sombre, several Trump officials have told CBS News, the BBC's partner in the US.

Some of the president's aides haven't shown up to work today, and the atmosphere is "very empty", says CBS.

Our own reporter at the scene, Tara McKelvey, has had a similar experience.

"A lot of the desks are empty. It feels spooky. Some of the staffers are outside the White House, talking privately on their mobile phones and walking around," she says."

My favourite thing is when there are particularly religious tribes in US Survivor and they do GROUP PRAYERS to win a challenge. Like GOD would give a fuck if they are eliminated from a reality TV show...?!?!? And then when they win it's all thanks to God. I always think that means they're underselling themselves.

See also when students of mine are all 'Inshallah' when they are going into their exams... I'm like 'well... did you do your revision? Because that will probably make more of a difference than just placing your faith in God?'
 
Anyway, each to their own. I just think it's a shame when they work really hard and don't take any of the credit themselves.

Pennsylvania COULD be called just before they take the stage. The guy on CNN says they will give an indication of the military ballot and that may inform the modelling enough to make it callable
 
Arizona still has 250,000 ballots to count, Jesus fucking Christ these people are going to take YEARS to count everything.

If everyone in Arizona just chipped in and counted one ballot this could be over with in the next 10 minutes.

Why is this taking so long, but the senate etc votes were done so fast? That’s voted by the public too instead it?
 
Apparently the SLOW VOTING is because Trump is suing certain counties in various Dem leading states, meaning EVERY SINGLE VOTE has to be verified by a JUDGE (or something similar) :manson:

Some senate seats haven't been called, and some have more decisive electorates. Also most senate seats weren't up for election anyway.

That's been going around for a while. Trump quits, makes some sort of plea deal to get off all tax evasion+ charges, Pence holds the fort until Jan.

could they really send him down though? on what charges? I have trouble imagining anything STICKING even with him out of the White House. he still has powerful friends (for now).

I'm not sure that would work. My understanding is that you can only be pardoned of crimes which you've either been convicted of or confessed to, so Trump would have to admit every little thing that he has done wrong with no guarantee that Pence would actually pardon him.

Thankfully Pence can only pardon him for Federal crimes. Anything coming from states can only be pardoned by governors

Tax fraud, bank/insurance fraud and campaign finance violations amongst other things.
 
I'd expect Biden to do the whole "it's time to move forward" thing and not push for anything criminal to be pursued against Trump, which certainly wouldn't be my instinct personally :eyes:
