Tomorrow on Moopy:
Is it Diwali now?
It's strange how some people have no interest in animals. What is it about them you don't like?Tomorrow and Sunday are the main days, it's been pretty much non stop here all week but it's really taken off tonight. I'm not an animal fan at all (sorry) but I really think there needs to be some sort of limit on fireworks to stop their distress.

Also totally agree about fireworks. Heathcliff is petrified.
It's not that I don't like them, I just don't feel anything really! I'm sure at some point we'll get a little furry pet for the kids though as I think it's good for them

They're ok but you need to get more than one as they're very sociable. They're easier to handle than rabbits and pretty cute. What about a guinea pig? I've always liked them.

Ooh do they? I've never had one. They just seem more sociable than rabbitsBitey little bastards. Very snooty and aloof and they stink.

I thought they'd be better than rabbits too. My brother had two of them and I agreed to look after them for a fortnight when he went on holiday after sitting with one on my lap at his barbecue and stroking it and it made cute noises akin to purring. Every night when I went round to do their food and water Sweep (the purry one) would run out and try to bite me while Benji was just making escape attempts as I tried not to lose a finger as Sweep chased my hand around. I was supposed to clean them out at the weekend and took spawn with me as backup but once again Sweep attacked me and managed to savage my hand, the blood on the substrate was still there the next weekend when my brother got home.
oh wow they sound mean!YesFleabag got guinea pigs right - they just live their lives in a constant state of TERROR. Poor things. I do love the noise they make though. WEEP WEEP WEEP
love that program.I love hamsters.
Rats are also apparently good pets.

Ok Herbie our rabbit is nothing like that. He's pretty soppy. Maybe rabbits are better, although still not for children.
Rabbits really struggle when their mate dies, it's horrible to see.We had two rabbits when spawn was little, Bonnie and Floppet (yes, that's where my name comes from) they lived outside in a hutch with a massive run attached to it which was a ballache to clean out especially in winter. They were lovely, friendly and cute. Bonnie then died (she was two years older) and Floppet went mental with grief, another pet that the vet had to put down because they couldn't do anything about her attacking everybody. Before Bonnie died they both loved having cuddles but afterwards whenever anybody went near Floppet would do this weird hissing, growling thing with her mouth open and then just attack, the vet had to put thick gloves on just to examine her.

We haven't bonded Herbie with a mate , partly because he's indoors with us and heathcliff, but also bonding is a nightmare.
They're scary when they turn mean tho.
We often get people bringing rabbits in who aren't eating and need to be put to sleep, it always ends up being because their mate had recently died.I'd taken Bonnie in when a friend was going to get rid of her but she used to living outdoors at my friend's so that's where she lived. We got Floppet a few months later to be a house rabbit. Unfortunately Bex (the dog) never got used to her living in the house and I couldn't trust him not to kill her when my back was turned so we introduced her to Bonnie and they were inseparable from the moment they met. I didn't even know rabbits bonded but the vet said grief is very common in rabbits when one dies and the kindest thing would be to put her down because she'd never go back to how she was.

Ok well when they're old enough to look after an animal I'll get some more advice![]()

omg what!Somebody broke into his mum's greenhouse one night and killed them both by bashing them against the wall.
I'm going to call Floppet Bonnie from now on
