New sort-of Christmas themed single, but also not really, with a MEGABUCKS VIDEO -

See I LOVE LOVE LOVE Lil Nas X as a personality, his social media is amazing, he oozes charisma and is obviously ABSOLUTELY STUN GORGEOUS but the music is just meh for me.

I REALLY want to like this song more than I do...but it's just a bit nothingy. And despite the big bucks video, as the song is SO SHORT it ends up all being a bit of a too-quick hot pot of maximalism that doesn't QUITE work for me - he was clearly going for some sort of gay Christmas 'Sock It 2 Me' kinda of video vibe :D

Currently not doing THAT WELL either - and for a video with quite a lot of hype behind it, the views aren't spectacular either a few days on...I don't know why they haven't found him the material to match his platform.

Well, this is a complete disaster of a comeback single and a lesson in how NOT to manage the career of somebody who's a one/two-hit-wonder turned full time Instagram persona.

Not only is the song far too weak to come back with 18 months after your last hit, but marketing it as a Christmas themed single with a super-gaudy video when the song isn't a Christmas song feels... so bizarrely misguided. What a way to make yourself seem like a novelty popstar. What were they thinking?

The video may be big budget but it's also terrible. And yes it had a catastrophically bad Spotify debut, not that it deserves to be a hit.

The song is weak and kind of boring, but he does call himself a bottom in it, which is kind of shocking for a mainstream rap song
Yes I enjoyed and appreciated this!

I quite enjoyed it :D And i suppose these things are all relative but isn't ten million views in two days quite good?

Oh 10 million is obviously not to be sniffed at, but I think his team were somewhat relying on the video being MASSIVE and somewhat breaking the internet to launch this single - and it just sort of hasn’t :D

If it wasn't for that insanely expensive-looking video, I'd assume this was just some kind of fun festive buzz track. I mean, it's so short!

I did LOL pretty hard at the bottom line though. :D

He's charming, but as far as this song goes, I think this is exactly what you'd expect to happen if you gave a BARB a massive record deal.

i was wondering why i was left so confused by the video but you just summarized my feelings precisely.

i do love this line though: "they wanna know if I'll be lastin', bitch even if i started flopping, there'd be fashion!" it's just so... ARTPOP!
