There seem to be plenty of seasonal offerings this year, I am assuming because not everyone managed to be as productive as assistant engineer Kylie Minogue in 2020. Please share the latest and greatest.

It still feels a bit early really but I wanted to post the exciting news that Beverley Knight has released A Christmas Wish, The Theme to The Loss Adjuster, which ticks off the usual festive Spectorisms cheerfully enough:

The obvious question is what kind of film has Bev got herself on the soundtrack of? Well...

STARRING:

Luke Goss!
Martin Kemp!!
Kym Marsh!!!
Abi from Eastenders!!!!
And also STARRING JOAN COLLINS

They really saved Christmas 2020.

This was on the Popjustice playlist the other week. I can find no other information as to what this cover is all about:

Don’t forget Joanna’s seasonal offering! #JoJo

is the artist actually called Festive Solutions Partnership?

If that is just a karaoke cover cash in done by a couple of blokes in their bedroom, couldn’t they have picked a better name than something that sounds like a factory in Slough?

Tinashe has released a (much better than I would have expected) R&B Christmas EP. They are traditional Christmas songs but she really makes them her own in a way that you rarely hear in Christmas covers. It would work any time of year

Some of you may like this (just guessing honestly): @KindaCool @dUb @Jark @POP! @Pipo

There are SO many good ones coming out right now -

Tori Kelly - 25th is probably my favourite

Also, new from Ella Henderson and references Queen of Christmas Mariah herself!

And others that I hadn’t came across until this year -

And I was absolutely this was going to come up in ASFM and am quite surprised it didn’t...

I love the Now, Now song; that and Saara Aalto doing Kylie were probably the pick of last year's crop.

Yes! Saara Aalto is on my playlist too, very good!

a few recent-ish faves (not necessarily from this year)

and this is my Christmas playlist if anyone wants to borrow from it or make further recommendations

Oh so the Bev song is new this year? Oh that's good, I was feeling bad for her that a song that "it's actually not bad" might have been and gone years ago.

Eternal - I Am Blessed is a new addition on mine. Totally a forgotten Christmas classic

Charo was my ASFM backup!

It was recorded as a piss-take on the John Lewis Christmas Ads and their habit of gloomifying songs.

Throw a few synths, bells, and whistles on it and it could have a Saint Etienne-esque quality.

Little Boots offers up a Covid-themed (I know...) cheap and cheerful Christmas Italo-esque number:
