I had about 3 songs, none of them perfect because it's impossible to know what direction to go in - fun, cosy, traditional, daft - there's so many types of Christmas songs and the only ones that fit all criteria are the really obvious ones. It's going to be fun guessing which ones will perform the best.

There's a handful of crackers, but so many outliers. Plus the non Xmas songs. No idea where it's gonna go.
 
I'm down to novelty or "semi serious" and like both, but suspect the novelty one would do better, but I like my "serious" one more...

The one I really wanted (which is novelty of sorts) wasn't on youtube :evil:

Not on YouTube is rarely the problem!

I'm already ready to go dirty on any non Christmas songs, unless they are amazing house party tunes that fit nicely with the holiday theme. Otherwise NO THANK YOU :evil:

They need the Beryl chop. I don't understand why you'd send a non-Christmas song in for ASFMXMAS

in defence of this: to define Christmas by set parameters is to deny its varied history. Many of the songs we know as classic Christmas hits started out as being about entirely different things. For example, Silent Night is originally by a Mancunian songwriter about how many birds @ButterTart could expect to pull on a night out, and Little Drummer Boy by Bing Crosby is actually a cover of an Alesha Dixon song from 1927:



I, for one, look forward to the varying interpretations of the theme!
