The USA: Trump-Biden Transition - attempted coup + Trump IMPEACHED (AGAIN!)

I mean it’s HARDLY perfect but we’re people genuinely expecting any different?

I don't think you can tout a potential Biden administration as "the most progressive in history" (as many were) then put people like this in it.

A lot of people on Twitter and other social media were! Usually to try and shame people to their left who had criticisms :eyes:

Oh I found social media during the election was full of annoying people who knew nothing about politics and could only really say AOC FOR 2024!!!11

I’m not surprised :D

TO BE FAIR.

How hard is it to be the most progressive administration in US history? It is hardly all that high a bar to clear.

And to defend the indefensible. Georgia is not a given, so Biden will have to govern without full control. He is going to have to make concessions with less than ideal appointments. However, having just said that, I am sure there are much less problematic centrists available than those two.

It probably is, in a lot of ways (not to defend the personal character or background of any of those picks).

Hopefully, this administration can be a transition between straight out evil and something forward thinking.

It's one appointment to a role that's basically the equivalent of government pencilcase supply :D Of course you can!

I mean, seriously, if you look at most governments you'd probably want to follow as highly progressive models, most of them will have figures you could cancel one way or another on the lines of "wrote something in an email once espousing something shitty in a hypothetical debate" or "violated work HR best practice". Not that most governments ever really get judged on who they appointed as minister of that and the other either way (could people name most of the Trump cabinet?)

You're right that one person isn't a pattern - Tanden was the most recent appointment that was getting some media attention, and I focused on her actions that might get some Moopy attention rather than her generally anti-progressive views on foreign policy, healthcare etc - but pretty much every major appointment Biden is planning to make has been concerning in some way. Appointing Avril Haines (an architect of Obama's drone programme) as director of national intelligence is far more worrying to me, as is the general picking of staffers from a strategic consulting firm with multiple ties to the defence industry.

He's not bothering to deal with a vaccine roll-out according to some reports last night. Surely an intervention of some sort is justified if that's the case.

And yet he still wants to take credit for its creation. What sort of upside down world is this?

On the one hand, this is fucked up. On the other hand, it might be better not to have his incompetence involved in this

Time is of the essence tho' - if they can't ever start to sort this until late January, that's thousands of unnecessary deaths.

That said, I can't help but feel that if the reports were true, it would be a much bigger story than this.

oh yes of course. CNN reported that the roll out is starting in December though, so maybe they’re just doing it without him?

Every time I start finding this funny, I remind myself that SEVENTY MILLION PEOPLE voted for this. Ten million more than voted for Trump last time.

Utter insanity.

I’ve been watching clips of this woman online. Christ on a bike.

For those who missed it the first time around, incumbent Georgia senator has refused to debate with sexy challenger Jon Osoff since this iconic takedown went viral back in October.

These Georgia Republicans think they can just do nothing and win. Clearly they don't realize how Georgia has changed and how many people have been registered to vote lately (Thanks Stacey Abrams!).

I continue to be disgusted he (and Kelly Loeffler) "represent" me
