What do you want for Christmas?

In this Facebook gardening group I'm in, quite often people put ashes in a spot and then plant something (mostly roses) to grow from them. It think its quite nice! Especially if you can get a similar named rose/plant.
Is that Gardening on a Budget? :D

Yeah! God I'm obsessed with it. If I had a Christmas list it would defo be full of garden bits.
I like the group, but budget is pushing it. Some of those elaborate outdoor bars and seating areas are not a budget I recognise!

The issue being here is that the POWERS THAT BE are trying to push through planning permission to demolish the allotments on a highly controversial compulsory purchase order so POOR OLD DAVE could actually end up part of an ELECTRICITY PUMP or whatever technical term it may be.

And also, I am so likely to DESTROY the damned tree, I need to bury it in a veggie bed or the roots of a tree already existing.

Maybe when I die, at my funeral I'll get them to give everyone a small pot of the plant I'm named after. I'll be watching from above to see who can keep me alive.

I couldn't cope with a tamagotchi. I bet you'd last longer even with Suomi.

I am debating one final whisky then bed. VOTE NOW MOO...oh as if I’m going to refuse!

What whisky? I might have one, I've tomorrow off after all.

I’m halfway through a Glenfiddich 30 in decanter number one, which was my first of the evening (THANKS DEAD DAD!) but I’ve gone onto a Dalwhinnie 15 from decanter number two to round off the evening.

I've inherited two bottles of something called GLAYVA

ENTIRELY undrinkable, but I've been making sure it's not gone to waste!

My Dad's single malt collection was the thing of legend. His drink of choice was whisky, ginger ale and ginger wine together, for which he'd use Bells, because, I quote, "it's not worth using single malt with a mixer". Very true. But where did the single malt go? NO ONE EVER KNEW.

Until he died and we found in his bedroom one solitary glass and a whole PLETHORA of amazing whiskies, half of them full and half of them drunk :disco:

I like Glayva! It’s basically Drambuie. No good if you don’t have a sweet tooth though

I don’t actually KNOW. I don’t really want or need anything. I will take my son to the shops and he will likely get me something lovely and thoughtful that I will never use. My daughter is usually a bit more inventive, but she is 18. My family from Ireland usually bring the best gifts but they aren’t coming this year, but that better not mean I get NADA.

What about drug wanks though?

I have asked Mr Kate for Tracey Thorn's new book about her friendship with Lindy Morrison *tumbleweed* but fuck knows otherwise. Booze and smellies and I'll be happy :)

I've never read any of Trace's stuff. That does sound quite dull mind.

I do only want it cos of Lindy but it sounds PRETTY GOOD ANYWAY!

My Rock ‘n’ Roll Friend will be a tale of 1970s activism and agit-prop theatre, lesbian punk bands and police-state cities, rock ‘n’ roll love affairs, the quest for stardom, female friendship and feminism, sex and drugs, Australia and London. Crucially, it will look at how the stories of women in music are told and who tells them.”

I wonder if @Lucille's landlady will get a mention.

I’m probably just being old but getting an amazing dinner made for me is enough to then collapse like a busted sofa on top of a non busted sofa to read books and listen to music and such. I may even talk to my family now and again.
