Wednesday stops shouting

Sorry to hear that @Rita :( Could it be worth giving the vet a phone just to see what they think?

I probably should, yes. I’m not sure if he would come to the house as otherwise someone would need to lift her in and out of the car.

@Rita i don’t know anything about dogs. But I don’t think vets can just put dogs down without permission?!

hope she feels better soon <3

Yes, you are right. I am not thinking logically at all. I just look at her and cry which worries her too I think. I need to go and pick my son up from school, and am worried to leave her incase she hurts herself.

Haven't had a haircut in over a year and actually quite liking it on the longer side but have NO IDEA how to not look like a caveman.

Recently been watching this fabulous chappie talking about brushes

I think I need BOAR HAIR, which really FIGURES

Honey, just because it’s LONG it doesn’t mean it doesn’t still need a TRIM now and then. Get those ends snipped off it will make a WORLD of difference.

Yeah far as I know a vet can only advise you if they think it'd be cruel to keep a pet alive but they can't put one down without permission (never had a dog, but ended up with an amputee hamster after she fell and started limping, they said "the kindest thing to do" and my heart sank and then "would be to amputate" to a response of TAKE MY MONEY) and can't see them advising it over a poorly foot!

@Rita could she have stepped on a thorn or something outside?

I have looked but can’t see anything. She is standing on the tip of her paw so that is what I thought originally, but now I’m thinking she may have broken something. She has been in pain for years due to arthritis at a young age so she is the sort just to get on with it, but it really is cruel. Isn’t it?

Noted for when finally brave enough! Probably not too many weeks/months before the parents get vaccinated.

I suppose if you’re not going anywhere but work there’s NOT MUCH POINT bothering with a haircut atm, my own is a bit of a STATE atm but WHO CARES.

Aww :(

Yeah there's that!

The other thing is it tends to puff up like nobody's business for about 4 or 5 days after washing no matter what conditioners I throw at it. Used to just get a number 6 in frustration.

I put a MOUSSE through mine when it’s long to tame it a bit and give it some shape/shine.

I can't stop sniffing and sneezing today. Has 2020 given us WINTER HAYFEVER now?

I need some dog advice. So my old girl has had arthritis since she was 6, and is going to turn 13 in February. She has been soldiering on whilst gradually walking less, but still has a massive appetite (which I have been making sure no titbits as weight can be a big problem for arthritis in dogs). Since Monday she has been limping on her front paw and I don’t know why. She can barely walk the length of herself, but is still going outdoors for the toilet and eating and drinking and is surprisingly still really happy. I don’t know what she has done to her paw! It doesn’t look broken and isn’t swollen, or anything and am petrified to take her to the vet incase they put her down. Would they do that if she is still happy? I just worry what quality of life I am giving her if her front leg does not recover. I am in such a quandary. :(

@Rachey @Floppet anyone?

They'll probably give her painkillers, she might have pulled a tendon or something or have a clicky knee. Ridley's on arthritis tablets and the same dosage of Tramadol that Mr F has, the Tramadol's worked wonders for him. A vet will only suggest euthanasia as a last resort when any quality of life isn't possible.

Please don't cry at her, dogs get upset like we do and you'll upset her. I know this because when I cry Ridley comes over and puts his head on my shoulder like he's hugging me without arms, it's the only time he does it.

Just book her in to see the vet, I'm sure they'll be able to sort her out, she's only 13 so probably has a few good years left in her yet.

I shoveled snow for the first time today, I’m a sweaty mess.

Shoveling snow is so much harder than it looks

My arms are on fire, I fucking hate snow.

I’ve phoned the vet, and booked her in.

Thank you very much everyone. I feel a lot better after reading your posts and have bit the bullet and called the vet. Fingers crossed everything will be alright.

I've thankfully never had to do it. although it sometimes goes up to the window and more at my father's. why did you have to? don't you have PERSONNEL for such tasks? (sorry if it's you x)

We do have someone to do it who didn’t and I didn’t want it to freeze so I did it out of the goodness of my heart.

I suppose I should write what Xmas cards I need to post but I absolutely cannot be arsed.

Don't do any and if anyone complains, say you're avoiding spreading germs this year

It's a good though but I feeling I should do them because Covid etc. I;ve sent the ones that are going outside the UK already.

They are nice. I used to love sending and getting them as a kid, but I haven't considered considered doing them since living on my own

I'm the same, I've pencilled it in as a weekend job, not even the thought of using my beautiful Montblanc fountain pen can gee me up. I can never be arsed with Christmas but this year I feel so much worse about it, bordering on hate. Every time I think about putting the decorations up, deciding what prezzies to get everybody or having to go and buy all the dinner stuff I feel on the verge of panic.

Well this all reminds me I never sent out my Bar Mitzvah thank you cards from 2008

I've easily got 600 first class stamps, pm me your address and I'll post you a couple of books of 12 tomorrow if you want.
Bless your heart! It's OK, I'll get some tomorrow. Just glad I did them fairly early this year for ONCE.
