Moderation Requests

If it IS a bone of contention then a NOF forum is probably a good idea. And people could ask to be excluded from it.

But I dont know, I kind of LIKE the fact that anything goes on moopy and we have it in our main forum.

I said yesterday I wondered where moopy was going in our descent into depravity, and I guess we're beginning to find out.

I am absolutely of the view that a NOF thread shouldn't be started in the main, public forums.

It comes back to the comments that I'd been making in the mod/admin forums that spilled out into the main forum about the Community forum becoming a bin for anything that goes awry.

If people want somewhere for "dank memes" then we can either have a "Dank Moopy" forum (I like ZG's "Dark Moopy", actually) or you know, folk can just enjoy them on Reddit, link it up rather than repost it and NOF the link - that, I'm fine with.

As I've said - if I am that far off the pace on this, I'll go but it's a very slippery slope and I won't hang around to watch Moopy slide down it.

I'm not really sure why it's there - you can access it on yr birthday but, given the core of Moopy is about 90-100 people, you won;t have anyone with whom to interact...

To be clear, the thread was moved without discussion and the mod team wasn't told. There's no team decision being awaited as we haven't been asked, but we have been told that if we want to move it back, you'll resign and leave which is more of an ultimatum than a team decision. I don't think I'm out of line saying this publicly, as you've said as much in this thread, but also it's not fair to make it sound like we've all been given a fair choice.
 
The issue with stuff like that going on in main moopy is it becomes accessible to anyone not logged in, including people under 18. I'm all for people being able to say and post what they want as long as its legal and doesn't involve anyone/anything that doesn't consent. Its 2020 and we're all mostly grownups.

But there has to be a balance, so bare with us while we find it.

That's not what I'm doing. It's become quite hard to be "in charge" of Moopy at the moment and I'm not prepared to use all my energy fighting for a bit of basic decency.
 
Yeah was just gonna say, if you do a NOF forum then it might be an idea to link it to date of birth (especially if any of us do decide to share naughty stuff)
I've only shared a VR pp, but still it's maybe sorta thin ice in public
 
Thanks for the explanation @octophone. And what @big ron says makes sense as well - I hadn't considered that at all.

And I appreciate the fact that you moved it rather than deleted it, but I do think it should have been discussed rather than imposed on us (particularly seemingly without the other mods' knowledge) because essentially this is the same thing that Kala was given a hard time for.

Yeah, I agree with this and it makes me uncomfortable.

Well, the statement was correct at time of writing - it wouldn't have been correct at time of moving.

Yes, I shouldn't have stropped off to bed after moving it and I should have realised that "I'll deal with it in the morning" wasn't going to work on a forum where most people are still knocking around up to midnight.

But I also don't think everything has to be a full team decision. It certainly hasn't been before. We're not talking about anything being deleted or anyone being banned.

Moving it to an inaccessible forum without a word isn't really that distinct from deletion, though. Hasn't the standard been to move to Community when things have been contentious?

I never saw the initial post Kala edited. I was referring to him imposing his opinion on the rest of us. I don't believe that's how moopy should work apart from extreme circumstances. And I guess that's the rub.

No. There hasn't been a "standard". It's been a last resort due to how rarely people open NOF threads. Community has been used as a bin for anything that's gone wrong and I expressed my annoyance and discomfort with that.

Perfectly fair. But I think, given the content, that this was sufficiently extreme. And that is, indeed, the rub.
 
The difference is the other mods can see what's in Community. We can't see or access what is in this birthday forum of which you speak

First point - yes, Octy should have mentioned something. She's admitted that. There's no need to keep labouring that point.

Like ron, i'm fine with Moopy being a free-for-all where anything can go. The small nag I have in my head though, is around public viewing. It's mandatory/the law for websites to have age restrictions in place for unsuitable content (NOF doesn't cut it for people who aren't registered to the site) and by not doing so we are at risk. Yes, it's a small risk because we're a small website, but a disgruntled poster could easily report such things. It's not just that - there's a risk Amazon deem us unsuitable for being part of their affiliation scheme then we're suddenly up shit creek without a funding paddle.

I think a separate forum for such things would be most appropriate.

Totally on board with underage/Amazon-based concerns which I didn’t have in mind at all when I posted.

I guess it’s a pretty useful discussion to have at a staff level so I will stand back and stand by for more guidance and my punishment
 
I think a distinction needs to be made between SEXY PISS and SCAT FUN and what was actually posted (by me as well as that awful @dUb), which was people weeing and pooing in shops, neither of which are exactly adult content even if they were (to my mind, amusingly) vile
 
Oh God this all happened. I am getting rather tired of all the gross out, animal sex, shit and piss stuff. Less said about all the CAPS. That said if that's how posters gonna play, we're all adults.

Is there a way we can hide all of DARK MOOPY stuff away? Like remove it from Recent and New Posts. I'm pretty sure there is. Make it a link only forum. Actually I know there is.
