Taylor Swift - evermore

it's her SWEET ESCAPE!

I want to hear her version of Wind It Up and Yummy

Anyway...

08 Willow
09 Champagne Problems
09 Gold Rush
08 Tis The Damn Season

Not as good as its amazing name, but nice CONCEPT (coming back to your hometown and seeing an old fling)

The production on Tolerate It is reminiscent of a crackling fire so thats kind of wintery

tolerate it is SUCH a Taylor Swift song :D

I wait by the door like I'm just a kid
Use my best colours for your portrait
Lay the table with fancy shit
And watch you tolerate it

lyrically there's a LOT of self-deprecation going on across folklore and evermore.

no body, no crime is a future 10 I reckon. nice (moderate) change of pace and a welcome injection of dark humour...

WTF at this song, but also :disco:. Each listen I'm wowed by another lyric.

In the scheme of country songs about murder with no body found, it is no Goodbye Earl by the Dixie Chicks (an 11)

Noting that the CD will be in the UK shops next Friday rather than in a few weeks time. I'm going to hold off, I think.

Perfect timing for her fans to stream it this week and then ask for it for Christmas

I don't know if I'll remember how it goes in 30 minutes but happiness is quite lovely. it really is a perfectly consistent record - no nu-di-tys or spanish lessons here. :eyes:

both of these things can be true
there was happiness...

Not really hitting me yet, but the melody just sounds like it will UNVEIL itself after several listens. The lyrics are a little clunky here

I think maybe if there's a "problem" with this record it's that the production is almost TOO uniform. it makes several tracks feel too similar to the last - some brass or keyboard higher in the mix would be appreciated here and there, or some electronica bubbling away underneath the piano and guitars.

Agreed, and I think thats why the (slightly I guess) different production in Tolerate It was a nice change

some of the mad detective swifties are claiming Dorothea is about Selena Gomez. :D there's EVIDENCE apparently, but perhaps someone else can read it FOR ME.

This is really starting to blend. I poured myself a glass of wine to see if that helps

Matt Berninger has one of my favorite voice's in the world

also starting to blend for me, to borrow your very diplomatic phrasing. coney island just finished and I've forgotten how it went :D

I'm not sure how much I rate MATT'S VOX either. sorry hun!

This probably wasn't his best performance tbh but the way he sounds on some The National songs is haunting. Do you listen to them?

Ivy has a discernible melody, so thats a nice change from the past few

“Tolerate it” is one the strongest lyrics on the album. Still trying to connect with the melody though.

I discovered a few songs from I Am Easy to Find having never even heard of them before Folklore :D I liked Rylan and Hairpin Turns

I like the way cowboy like me leans slightly more into country as it goes on. it has a really nice groove, mellow but warm and inviting.

Rylan is a good one! Listen to the song Conversation 16 if you want something good and bleak

now that we're on track 12 - even though it does have quite a welcome injection of PACE and energy - I'm kind of GAGGING to listen to CRUEL SUMMER and GETAWAY CAR :disco: *queues*

yeah, that's the thing - as perfectly lovely as they ALL are (and they are - folklore has a couple I actively want to skip when playing through, this doesn't), many of the songs really do just function as background music. and I don't ever treat music as background music. it should always have a reason to be FOREGROUND!

how sweet of her to end the record on such a high note for us. she works really well with Bon Iver.

champagne probems
evermore

I think I will add those and maybe one or two more over time to my best of Tay-Tay playlist, so that's not a bad result.

very rude of you to fly in the face of Taylor's artistic choices by using caps @RJN.

“Dorthea” is “Betty” if “Betty” was that bitch.

I had it on on my way into town today and thought “oh it is a bit samey :(“ but then realised I’d just had the first track on REPEAT.

My high school boyfriend was showing me some song and I felt like it was too avant-garde and cool for me to get, but actually he had just not plugged the headphones in and it was the sound of feedback
