Tuesday meets the Flintstones

I am working today. For the first time over Christmas in about ten years. It’s entirely screwing with my head.

We don't have much but I'm quite low down so if we've got some, other places will likely be covered.

I don't mind working in between Xmas and NY. I once had a job where the place shut down in between and I kinda hated it.

That’s my current job and frankly I don’t hate it right now as I’m loving all the sleep I’m getting.

The problem was that, at that time, most of my friends were not native to Glasgow and would disperse between the 15th and the 22nd to various family homes around the country. So I had nothing to do and no-one to hang out with until about mid January. So I was just booooooored.

Nowdays, we'll, no-one's hanging out with anyone and there's nothing on anyway so it's neither here nor there.

Thing for me is that I am so fucking stressed in my job generally that having two weeks ish not having to think about it really is a massive lifesaver.

(Not saying no one else’s job is like that, by the way!)

Seeing as nobody will let me start the daily thread (well, let is a strong word, I'm just never up early enough), I'd like to wish you all a happy Merryneum.

Which is a word derived exactly as you might expect.

Right, wasting paid leaves just to get bored is frustrating. At my current job I’m more mad about the first couple weeks of august where we’re forced to take paid leaves too, yes that’s three whole weeks in a year that are fixed  Those are the most expensive weeks for travel and I could easily take my leave outside of them, like in September, as I DON’T HAVE CHILDREN

If I had your power, I’d just delete the daily thread and start a new one whenever I’m up. But that’s just me :)

I’ve just looked at my email and actually I don’t really have much to do.

LOVELY!

I’ve never not had this time off but it’s always been given, not had to use holiday.

I’m not sure how I’d feel about going to/doing work. I don’t feel like I’d be very productive bar maybe reducing the inbox down.

It's been 22 years since I had any time off over Christmas, other than the bank holidays. I don't know any different.

Sorry to come in and do a Mel but we’ve have a right nice snowfall here. Our first ‘proper’ snow since the BEAST FROM THE EAST a couple of years ago.

Hello moopy. I am now off work until next Monday and officially no longer a manager.

Also, we have snow on the island but it won't settle because of the rain which makes me very sad :(

I'm not in until next Wednesday. Not bored yet. I've already got the first week in February off, and I still need to take 7 more days off by the end of March or I'll lose it. And even that's assuming we're allowed to carry over a week as usual.

I had four months off earlier this year and was told “oh you’ll get bored”. I so didn’t- I could happily not work on full pay for the REST OF MY LIFE. And that was during lockdown, let alone when things are actually open.

When I was made redundant and got a good pay off in 2006, it was about 9 months before I was bored. In truth, I was busy, it's just that was I was doing was not generating anything even close to a living wage.

It's this time of year I'm normally having a trip to Cambridge. Fucking covid.

Hello Moopy! We have finally got some SNOW. Only about 2 inches of th stuff but it is enough to make the place look BEAUTIFUL. I even got up for a run this morning for the first time in days. :disco:

It’s also so cold outside it is likely to stick around for a bit and not turn in to DREADED SLUSH

Ok, which one of you am I speaking to over Live Chat in my job? :D

"Well I'm sure Asda in Hulme has seen the start of many gay romances "
