I bet the scenes at Exeter Airport are just like Euston the weekend before last.
 
Isle of Man is super strict about who it lets in. One of my athletics friends comes from there and hasn’t been allowed back in for ages.

It doesn’t really bother me that we’ve gone into tier 4. I just can’t think about the fact it’s likely to go on for months before things start to ease up, the old adage one day at a time will have to keep me going.
 
Most of London primary schools are not allowed back initially in Jan, amazingly my Borough has been excluded from that :o Considering our rate is double the national average, how bad must the other boroughs be?!

I’m kinda glad Liverpool has gone back into tier 3. I can stop worrying about various family members heading to the pub for a “meal”. People just can’t help themselves. If it’s shut there is no temptation. Roll the vaccine out then we can talk about tier 2 again thank you.

Cork. All of ROI is in level 5 from midnight. Donegal’s numbers have been on the increase from what I’ve seen on the news. 150 cases today linked to an outbreak in a pub.

It all just seems never ending. I can’t wait to get back over again, and may not want to leave again.
 
I bet the schools thing will be like the introduction of tier 4 over here. A few places initially, then in two weeks time when the sh*t hits the fan (and it's too late), they'll close more schools.
 
Because I work in a special school, all students are classed as vulnerable and none of this delay applies, so we’ll be back in on Monday.

Can’t wait.

WHY on Earth would they change course on these vaccinations now? Administer them as planned so that they ACTUALLY WORK.

I also don’t know how legit it is but others were saying that administering the vaccine ineffectively could lead to a vaccine-resistant mutation.
 
Actually AGOG at the logic behind the school closures in London, where the boroughs that are and aren't closing schools have seemingly been picked ENTIRELY AT RANDOM.

This is what I was asking about earlier - I still am none the wiser about whether it’s a sensible idea to prioritise more people getting their first dose, but I can’t for the life of me figure out why they’d cancel existing bookings for second doses.

Aside from that it sounds like a logistical NIGHTMARE.
 
I would like to HOPE that Pfizer have already tested different lengths of time between the two doses and the government are simply going by what they've said. But who knows with this shitshower.

The trial I'm on has a 2 month gap.

Nope, Pfizer said this morning that there's no specific data to support this but it's up to governments to decide how to use their vaccine.
 
Pfizer haven't had time to test what sort of immunity you get either with one jab only or with a longer gap between the two jabs. It sort of makes sense that one jab only might still give a significant amount of immunity, in the region of 40-60%, if two jobs are known to give 90% immunity, but there's no data whatsoever actually to support this because no one has actually tried to find this. A drug company that tried to argue that one jab only should be given to any competent regulatory authority would be laughed out of their approval hearing. Not doing exactly what has been tested is a stupid gamble with our health on the part of the government.

Slightly more positively, I don't see how giving only one jab could directly cause a vaccine resistant mutation to arise, save for the fact that having more virus around gives more chance for mutations of any sort to arise. Vaccines and antibiotics, where using them improperly actually could cause resistant bacteria to develop, are very different so I don't think that's something to worry about.

It's so random!! The stats don't make sense. My boss lives in an open borough but her kid goes to school literally down the road in a closed borough.
 
That’s like when they tried to make masks mandatory but only in certain streets in Paris :eyes: mostly streets with a lot of stores and in densely populated areas :eyes: I had to wear a mask in my street but could literally just turn left and take it off :rolleyes:
