Was this true?

What made me think this was that it appeared to get a bump on my screen, but I'd already bought it (on discount obz). But Nance got it too, so who knows what the factor was if you didn't/haven't. Pretty sure it has a few hours left of free play.

tbf I just thought you were being cunty toward @Nancy :D

That’s typical planning

preorder this nice warm blanket in the middle of fucking freezing January, shipping starts from June when you want to tear your skin off to cool down

The new Kirby event for Tetris 99 is just a pinch hard to see. How do they get these eye sores past focus groups? Still managed finishing 9, 6, 77, 5, 15, 33 and 2 in order to unlock the theme permanently. Splatoon remains my favourite out of all the themes bu far.

And the music was amazing when it gets all twin towers on you whether that's top 20 or whatever. So I'll give them that.

Oh hallelujah - I see my order of Ring Fit has shipped as of 8:30am. I was having trouble finding it, but TheGameCollection have it. I've not been doing any exercise so this should help, plus I love the snazzy music from the Tetris 99 theme :D

I was FURIOUS when there was the Animal crossing one but I only found out literally minutes before it went so I couldn’t unlock it :(

I think it was supported with a roll out of content until the end of 2019 (the initial promise was actually extended), but Splatfests have returned and this is now the 3rd. There was a 2020 tease with the game last year, which many believe was a spin off likely to be happening. I think Nintendo just like having mini cross promotions as this one is Mario themed (which you'd think would be red and blue or red and green ink, but no).

It still amazes me that they didn't start just adding the Splatfest stages (in day form) to the core rotation every month as that would have artificially maintained the flow of content for another 2 years. Not that I need incentive. I've almost played the sequel more than the original on Wii U, which was 2000 hours :D

Anyone for Mario Kart 8 - say Saturday afternoon? I'll be playing anyway and will also again if I remember to do it :)

Well no one joined, but I did finish 1st twice. I seemed to have joined a bunch of Japanese friends who were all Waluigi, so that was fun.

So, BOTW update - I have played about ten hours, updated my Sheikah slate, got a couple of memories, met Impa, and done about 8 shrines.....

BUT, now what? For a start my map only seems to have the Great Plateau filled in, despite me horsing around literally everywhere. And despite there allegedly being 120 shrines, none of them are being bleeding obvious on my travels, apart up an unclimbable cliff edge.

What exactly am I meant to be doing? Have I missed a trick?

That damn shrine detector keep beeping at me, but can I find the bloody thing? No.

Have you been up the towers? There's one in each region, and you'll find a thing at the top of each one you can activate that'll fill in the map for that region. The shrines are for you to discover naturally/with the detector, but it'll be a lot easier with the map filled in so I'd go looking for the towers!

Thank you, had only been up the first tower. I'll give that a go!

This is where the game went from great to SUBLIME for me, suddenly realising that I could go ANYWHERE and do anything I wanted in a brilliantly crafted world.

I think I turned that fucking detector off because I was getting distracted by about twenty things already on my way to point B - I didn’t need something else.

Can anyone recommend a great Multiplayer? My social bubble and I have worn Mario Party out, but something similar to that would be great - low stakes but competitive and varied and fun, not just a mindless button-basher.

Overcooked? Or moving out? Both are great fun.

Overcooked:
(This a trailer for Overcooked 2 but you get the idea)

I would recommend Bomberman but the switch one wasn’t really it :(

it’s still fun in basic mode though.
Just the game should really have been built around that, rather than a load of extra shit that wasn’t fun

I thoroughly recommend the Overcooked games too, but beware as they can DESTROY FRIENDSHIPS.

Bomberman is not a patch on the 2D ones but still good, mindless fun. There's also Smash Brothers, Mario Ace Tennis, Marío Kart, Towerfall, Heave Ho and Enter the Gungeon. All fairly simple concepts finely tuned.

If you can get on board with 2D co-op games there is plenty of good ones to recommend, from beat 'em ups like Streets of Rage 4 and Scott Pilgrim to Kirby Star Allies, Unravel or the Trine quadrilogy which I played multiplayer all the way (3 players) and I really recommend.

Also I just read the Captain Toad Switch port is multiplayer all the way through - that game was brilliant IMO.

And you have Super Mario 3D World coming out in a few weeks I believe? The multiplayer in that game is fantastic.

Captain Toad <3

It's just the 2nd player aiming with the cursor that's always on screen to fend off enemies (on Wii U it could be done on the gamepad with the stylus - it only Nintendo would let you get a 2and Switch to function as a gamepad, I really miss those subtle features).

Tetris 99 is surely multiplayer too? God I've played about 400 hours of it.

Has anyone played Ninjala? I've been wondering if it's worth trying to learn the controls again.

Oh Towerfall is excellent!! It looks quite complicated but everyone I’ve had play it picks it up after a few games.

From what I read there's a full 2-player mode in the Switch port where the second player controls another Toad/Toadette as opposed to using the cursor.

Thanks guys!

I think turn-based games will probably work better for us than co-ops, but I'll do some digging into these recommendations.

I'm far more excited about Pokemon Snap than I should be. I remember spending a ridiculous amount of time playing the original when I was...*gulp* .. a third of my current age :D

Whilst my collecting for Wii U got completely out of control, I told myself I wouldn't do the same for Switch and yet I couldn't resist that new limited, yucky red Mario 35th anniversary edition. Completely forgot it arrived and about to put 3D World on. The extra Bowser chunk seems interesting - I'm sensing it's more of a test drive they're allowing us in on rather than anything that substantial, but you never know.
